    right racism is an American thing, then how come when I was traveling with a Korean friend in Germany, France, Italy and Spain he was racially abused almost every other day?

    Some absolute scumbags there no doubt about it. But unfair to label the majority as being racist. I travel a fair bit and Americans in general are among the most friendly people in general that I have met. I will say this though. There is definitely an arrogant streak in the American culture which can come over as an overbearing superiority complex at times. For example the call their baseball final the World Series and the winners are World champions a title they also bestow on the winners of the NFL and NBA.

    Feel a bit frustrated after reading some posts on this thread, but cest la vie. Every country has it's share of *, racists, p(a)edophiles, rapists, thieves, *, murders, poorly educated people and ignorant people. Sweeping generalizations are the uneducated man's tool to ensure he looks and feels like he understands the true nature of something. The media has reported that Scotland has tops the world's cocaine use, but you don't see me going around posting on threads about Scotland that it's a Scottish thing to shove coke up your nose every 5 minutes. Not one country can be defined as absolutely anything!

    One thing I will concede, and this I have personally witnessed, is that the interest Americans have in soccer is directly related to whether or not the US team is involved - if they're still in the competition, the whole country has it's sights on it, if not, no one gives a *. One thing I hate about a lot of American soccer fans - they take no interest in the game unless they're involved.

    Also, gotta call out Loyal2CFC and ourdaywillcome! :*:

    The world series has a good history, check it out and the and the name makes more sense. But yeah, for the most part calling a team world champions is just dumb....hense me liking the NHL and "soccer" better.
