Different times, different situation. Unless the UK could prove that the Irish government had some part to play then it would never result in war. Neither the British or Irish government want it.

saw a bit of it on tv..

    they saluted gstq..enthusiastically..

i wonder what Pearse and co would say..the very fact the politicians in the dail who allowed it to go ahead..speaks for itself really...

lay a wreath all those who died for ireland's freedom..jesus christ..what an insult..to get the very same crown out..then a few years later that same 'crown' comes back....

I personally think it's a good thing that the two countries are showing each other respect and especially that the Queen is publicly acknowledging the soldiers who fought for Ireland.

However I can't help but feel that it's all a bit of an empty gesture while Ireland is still in 2 bits.

Well thanks for the English....lesson!Strangely enough i do usually make an effort to proof read my posts and make corrections...but i was in a hurry. However, i did use capitals 4 out of the 9 times i used the words Irish or Ireland.

Regarding your question....i think it was Feargal Keane speaking on the BBC News that mentioned those stats.

Since you are so keen to see good English grammar used in the forum,(something i myself enjoy...makes it easier to communicate with one another.)i should maybe point out that here in Scotland...we use question marks at the end of a question!

An absolute disgrace and totally shambolic slap in the face to those of whom the Garden of Remembrance was set up to....remember!

The sight of those West Brit * saluting and playing their wee hearts out to GSTQ was truly sickening.

Nothing more than a shower of British-Monarchy * licking swine:38::38::38:

Huns will be raging that their Queen was laying a wreath of memory to the volunteers of the IRA and all those who died for Ireland's freedom.

Fell sorry for the Irish soldiers who were told by there commanders and goverment to salute the queen. This is just not on. Pearse , Collins, Connoly and co will be turning in there grave. Enda Kenny and whoever sanctioned this is nothing but a west brit scumbag and should be ashamed of themselves.

Is it uniquely Scottish to use question marks at the end of questions ????
