Pre Season 2012

The page has been taken down I think. All you can find is Real Madrid and Juventus in Las Vegas in the middle of summer. Hopefully we are staying out of Vegas. Its like 44° there in the summer. I'd love to make a trip back into Deebo to watch Celtic again. Even though last time I went we lost. And the police are mental. Be careful.

I'd love to play Real Madrid. Haven't played them in forever.

 

Last week I noticed in a Belgian newspaper that Cercle Brugge would play Celtic on July 22nd (the day of their fan day) To be certain I checked their site and noticed that there was mentioned that they would host the Huns.
I contacted Cercle Brugge to clarify this. Once I got an answer I'll confirm this onhere.

 

thats definitely rangers mate its been in a few news reports. as far as I no we don't have any pre season games arranged yet our tournament with chelsea in ireland has been called off by the fai refusing to permit it and this real madrid match is probably still in negotiations and still to be signed off on which is why ticketmaster will have pulled it

 

when does the season start as i noticed the madrid game was august 10th and i don't really want us flying to the states and playing a week before the season starts

 

4th of August is the date for the opening fixture. Given the antics of the governing bodies it will be whenever the decide to deal with the huns. I stuck up the dates on the previous page or before that.

 

Would like to see us in a friendly tournament again. Why don't Celtic just host one? Big enough stadium for something surely. *, invite Norwich up for a rematch and sing-song plus a couple of European teams with mad-daft but friendly fans (St. Pauli?) for the sake of a few days out and a great atmosphere. With the right teams the only moderate TV revenue likely to be gained would surely be balanced up by high attendances, merchandise sales and new fans gained by watching at the event/on TV and enjoying the atmosphere. Would also be a good run-out for all teams involved as we could all be roughly the same level (or at least below the Arsenals, Barcas, Inters etc. of recent years) so everyone would be in with a shot of winning.

 

would love them to host a aston villa, st pauli and barca friendly tournament with the money raised going to the cancer charities of abidal and petrovs choice

 

A tournament featuring us, Bilbao, St Pauli and Norwich would be fantastic from a fans point a view!

 

I'm praying Celtic come to Chicago again.

Nothing official has been anounced but rumours are everywhere about this Real Madrid match. Wouldn't be surprised if Ticketmaster made a mistake though.

 

Aye, that would be amazing. I also like the idea of playing Madrid though, just for the experience and the possibility that we could cause a big upset, even if it is only a friendly.

 

I have a feeling we'll get Real in the CL. Dunno why, I just do.
Mind you, that wouldn't stop us playing them in preseason as well.

Seems very strange that there are so many rumours about that fixture and even the ticketmaster advert, yet no word whatsoever from either club?

Is literally EVERYONE at Celtic on holiday right now? Because i'm sure they usually announce pre-season games way before now, it's nearly June already and they haven't announced anything, very weird indeed.

 

Last year they announced mid-May. What the *!

 

I was thinking about the possibility of playing Real in pre season and I thought that it would be nice to play them as a tribute to Jinky with the proceeds going to a motor neurone charity, given Jinky's legendary performance against them in the Di Stefano testimonial.

 

I'd like Bilbao to come here.

August 11th?, that's crazy to be taking a game in the states at that time, you'd think with the possibility of CL this season we'd be going for that and not chasing money in the states.

Delighted with this news. I'll be there.

It will be good prep, hopefully, before the 4th round of the CL. Lenny can treat it as he wishes, in terms of who he fields. However, in the interest of continuity (unless someone really needs a rest), we should be playing the same team as much as possible to gel for the qualifiers.
