That doesn't make sense though. If Howe's the manager then why not announce him? He doesn't need his backroom staff in place before they announce that he's signed.

The only rumour I've heard that could possibly make sense is that Howe is due a big payout from Bournemouth if they make the EPL this season, and by joining another club he'd miss out on that. So Eddie wants to wait and see if he's getting some cash from them before he signs.

That seems a bit far-fetched though considering he essentially walked away from that contract so I doubt they'd have to honour any clauses like that. I'm of the belief that we're just waiting till the huns are officially declared champions to try and steal a bit of their thunder.

 

Me neither mate, I'm just trying to throw out a potential reason.

John Kennedy insists he's heard nothing about who Celtic' s next manager could be.

The interim boss maintains he hasn't heard from anyone at the club over their plans for next season.
Eddie Howe is the favourite to replace Neil Lennon but Record Sport understands the appointment could be on hold until the end of May.

Kennedy, however, was keeping his cards close to his chest at his Friday press conference.

“No, I haven’t, apart from hearing it from you guys," he admitted.

“It is a lot of speculation. No one has spoken to me in terms of what the plans are for next season with the new management set-up.

“So I don’t know who they are talking to or who the options are, the club are working through and will confirm that when the time is right.”

Kennedy will take charge of Celtic's final match of the season against Hibs on Saturday, having stepped in as caretaker following Lennon's resignation in February.


In what was billed as the club's 10 In A Row season, they let their Premiership crown slip to Rangers and were deposed as Betfred and Scottish Cup champions.

But with ambitions to become a full-time boss on his own terms, Kennedy can at least say he salvaged some vital experience from the wreckage.

In fairness to him he has probably learned more from the failures of this season then the previous success from a personal development standpoint. That at least is how I took that.

 

If we drag out out transfer business for next season like we've dragged the * out of hiring a manager we are well and truly *.

 

My only issue is if that Howe isn't going to take the job, do we have a back up choice? My opinion is naw, we don't.

Literally no bookies taking bets on Howe anymore. I've never seen a deal that's supposedly this done take this long. This club will be the death of me

 

I can only imagine that the only reason we haven't announced Howe is something to do with compensation to Bournemouth, or indeed Howe loses money that Bournemouth have to pay him if he is out a job for a season.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with backroom staff, Howe will know who is coming with him regardless of what division Bournemouth are playing in next season.

It's the worst kept secret in football when it comes to new managers, it has to be only for some sort of financial reasons.
I am actually leaning towards Howe is due payment from Bournemouth than us being the usual tight fisted * that we always are..

Either way, Howe will be calling the shots already and I fully expect him to be the new manager and for him to have 4 or 5 players already to sign right after him ..... Either that or it's late Friday night and I've had one too many!

 

Really can't see Howe orchestrating to drag this out long enough to take a few quid from the club that apparently means so much to him.
