Am just in from the courteeners gig and cannot believe this. Who was at fault other than Mowbray?. This is Mowbrays last straw for me. I've always back him this season but if that St Mirren who couldnt score to * save themself at the w.e then beaten us never mind scoring * 4 goals. I am furious.

Consider it confirmed... game was gone by then anyway. We never looked like winning in all honesty. Poorest display I can remember.

Check out the ratings the team got in the Sun...

    CELTIC: Zaluska 4, Wilson 3, Thompson 3, O'Dea 3, Braafheid 3 (Rasmussen 1), N'Guemo 3, Ki 3 (Fortune 1), McGowan 3, McGeady 5, Keane 3, Samaras 3.

I think some of them are generous.

tbf, before tonight we'd had bad results, though nothing as abject as THAT. i think many of us (in hindsight wrongly :54:) believed that Mogga would be able to change things given the January transfer window but i think its clear to 90% of celtic fans that he's just not up to it

btw why the * have Hinkel and Boruc been dropped? :97: not that it would have particulary helped tonight :(

A few footballing matters are worth noting from tonights game:

Brafheid is crap and not worth considering keeping. Naylor is a far better defender.

The least worst tonight were Aidan and Sammy

O'Dea has no future at Celtic and Thompson shouldnt be considered for 1st team again until he has had a seasons loan somewhere.

Gowser is neat and tidy but is a poor mans Maloney minus his pace, shooting etc. Should move to a smaller SPL club.

i agree with more or less every point!.....for once! :icon_mrgreen:

still tbf i think Thompson has shown he has potential (albeit tonight was a bad night) and wouldnt write him off; as for O'Dea? hes had more than enough chances, he's been living off that goal in the cup final and the fact hes what we consider captain material is sad indeed; funny to think some folk on here were desperate to see him back from Reading!!! :87:

It's really hard to overstate how bad last night was. It was bad on so many levels. The team selection was awful. Tony Mowbray's substitutions were suicidal and the performance of the team was just not acceptable at all. There are no excuses that can be made for what happened and there are no reasons that could ever justifiably be used to explain what happened either. Last night was just not on.

Something is really deeply troubling me right now and that something is Ki Song-Yueng. It's not the player himself, it's who bought him and who is picking him that bothers me. I just cannot believe the way Marc Crosas was dropped for Ki last night. I would love somebody to give me ONE good reason why Ki was in that team last night and Marc Crosas was not. I can only think of one myself........The board want him in the team for shirt sale reasons. If that is true then our manager has become a puppet and is doomed to fail! On a footballing level there is NO reason for putting Ki in ahead of Marc Crosas. Marc Crosas has been one of our best players this season and Ki, up to this point, has done nothing of note. I just do not understand why Ki was in there ahead of Crosas. I was not happy about that at all and feared the worst as soon as I heard that was the case. The board better not be having any input into what team gets picked and that's the bottom line.

Paul McGowan should not have been on that park last night either. The boy is not good enough to be in Celtic's first team and he never has been. I'm sorry but one good performance at home to St. Johnstone and one goal in a meaningless European tie do not make you a player. McGowan is crap and shouldn't be near our first team. Why is Tony Mowbray * about picking guys like McGowan? Mowbray should be trying to get this team settled down into some kind of order with an eye to figuring out what his team will be next August. Paul McGowan will not be a regular starter for Celtic next season.....no chance he will!! So why the f*** is Mowbray * about by putting him in the team!?? :31: I've nothing personal against the lad he just simply is not good enough for us.

Josh Thompson is also not good enough to be in the Celtic first team right now. There's been a few threads lately about how good he is but he's not good. Not good at all. He's just a raw young kid who needs to play quite a bit more football at a lower level before going anywhere near our first team. The sooner our first choice centre-backs get fit again and we can get him and O'Dea back out the team the better.

So the team selection was wrong and the substitutions were wrong too. Even Mowbray admitted it himself which is the first time this season. After a result like that I suppose he had too. At one point tonight Aiden McGeady was almost playing at left-back.......* Tony!?? We came within a * hair of losing 5,6 or even 7-0 to St.Mirren tonight.......St. * Mirren! That's just not on.

I've been one of the people defending Tony Mowbray but my belief in him has taken a massive hit tonight. I'm really not impressed. I'll be watching closely over the next few weeks to see if there is any change in what Mowbray is doing. There better be for his sake because if I've reached the stage of feeling how I do just now I can only imagine how the Celtic fans who want him out are feeling tonight.

O'Dea overruns most headers and they get in behind him which is his undoing despite being a solid defender on the ground.

Thomson simply needs pace/agility training (despite what most people think it is possible to improve in these areas through training) or we'll see those slightly better than average spl players like Dargo run him ragged for the rest of his career.

    Wilson was average at best

Braafheid looks soo unsure of himself.

    Keane looked stranded.

Ki is still adjusting to the SPL which is understandable but he must begin to get used to it sooner than later.

Landry showed his utter lack of ability going forward in some games which limits our midfield.

Sammy was alright but must be the unluckiest striker in Scotland as the post denied him yet again.

Aiden was better than everyone else

Zaluska did his reputation as a solid, no mistakes keeper damage with that low-savable but in the end he was left stranded.

    Fortune was aimless.

I struggled to find McGowan on the park when I looked for him, which shows inconsistency on his part as he stood out last game.

Folks have been wanting Mowbray to experiment and play combinations he wouldn't normally and give fringe players a chance, well this is the risk that doing that has. I've lost faith in the man, but I'll support him 'til his contract is up this summer or he resigns or he is sacked.

To put this loss in perspective.

    1. It is the first time since 1990 that St. Mirren have scored more than 1 goal against us in a game.
    2. The first time since 1983/4 since they managed to score 4 against us.
    3. We have twice lost away to St. Mirren in less than a year
    4. We had a starting line up with 8 full internationals in the team against a team that 3 days earlier could not beat a 9-man R****** side, even with the prize of a rare piece of silverware for them at stake.

Thompson had a shocker. No getting around that one, but TM's tactics didn't help, by leaving the defence exposed.

Ki is an ok player, as I have seen what he is capable of for Sth Korea, but I have yet to see more than the odd touch to justify his selection ahead of Crosas. We are far better served when Crosas & N'Guermo are the CM pairing, both in terms of team performance and balance to the side.

Tactically, yet another naive display, with odd substitutions, contributed to yet another disjointed effort, apart from the first 10 minutes all signs of cohesion had evaporated and the balance was upset further the longer the game went on.

When fans start throwing there Celtic tops and scarfs onto the pitch before the game ends and after the whistle and by the looks of it a lot stayed till the end to vent there anger ,normally this is the beginning of the end for any Manager ,i think there will be a parting this week between Celtic and Mowbray as last nights game was the lowest point that this team could go .

Celtic had 3 wins on the trot before last night but Mowbray felt it was the correct move to change a winning team ,you dont touch a team if its getting the results but he did and i would love to know why and what was his reasoning in doing it but we have had some dodgy decisions from Mowbray in the past and when he makes subs ,but i do see a parting of the waves this week and i will be dumbfounded if there wasnt.

i think mowbray having won 3 in a row thought we are sorted and its only stmirren, they will be nackered from the weekend...maybe that was his thoughts i dont know.but i see not one post/thread in moggas favour that tells me 100% of fans dont like what they are watching and a change is needed ,no one can argue with the feeling s of disgust /dissapointment/embarrasment ect ect ect there were no dodgy decisions by refs there was no weather conditions excuses, the pitch was great.Celtic were simply * pure and simple..i was a mogga fan ,i still like him as a guy,but a celtic manager, its too much for him..tony put your hand up and say KEYS IM OFF

I'll be heading into town today with my scarf on, regardless of result(s). Even if we give Rangers a doing on the last OF game it will be too little too late. Unsure if TM should leave at the end of the season but I daresay he's had more than his share of chances.
