I think we did just fine tonight.

We played a fairly strong team, from one of the strongest clubs in world football, and we didn't really deserve to lose.

Berbatov would get in our team tho. :50:

I honestly felt like we might as well have had no strikers or central defenders and we would have had the same result..............

For the love of * why can't we just sign some African or Eastern European players who can just get the job done and fix that situation....

As this team stands now there is NO CHANCE of going anywhere in europe.. It's just the facts. I have high hopes and faith in the title but that is about all.

No, he's not having a laugh. :icon_mrgreen: The doc doesn't believe in having creative players.

I put it to him today that we hadn't a creative player in our entire squad, and he said Ki was the creative player, and buying another creative player "would be a waste of money".

    That's the mindset you're dealing wi' :86:

Yeh I was thinking about that the other day also,

Any year we have run away with the league we haven't taken 3 points from our opening game it's a bit mad really.

Maybe it just gives the team more focus or something?

The only thing im really worried about is the lack of goals in the team. I just cant see Murphy scoring that much. I really think we should buy Stokes. He's a proven SPL goalscorer and is young.

I believe that if Ras plays all season he will score 25+ goals, with that said I still want another striker to play with him and Stokes would do nicely.

Sell Fortune if we can get what we paid for him.. had high hopes for Hutchison when he came natural finisher but doesn't look like he's going to make the grade, shame...

yeah we missed mgeady tonight. there was no toeing the ball out of the park. hitting the 1st defender with crosses or completly missing every1 with a cross................ see how well we passed the ball at times tonight? no coincidence that mr mgeady wasnt in the team as u cant play a passing game with him. big sammy would score and create a lot more out wide than mgeady ever would

Yeah i know that is a worry. Something just doesn't feel right for me at the moment with regards the the up-front position. I'm still hoping Ras comes good or we get a proper goal-scorer in or we could be looking at alot of drawn games.

    Ehh No!!

Would like to see Lennon keep his 100% SPL record till the end of the season instead.. Now that would be something.....

Stokes would be great. But if he was the "proven goalscorer" that Lenny promised us, I have to say I'd be a bit disappointed.

That's why I'm SO down with the Murphy signing. I don't think we'll sign another two strikers, and I had hoped for Stokes + someone more experienced (Keane, McFadden, etc).

In that case, who would you suggest we sign?

I'm not suggesting you get to pick the team, I'm asking for an example of someone you would consider good enough.

not posted in a while but thought i should start back.

was impressed with the game and form tonight seeing as it's our second game pre-season. looked comfortable enough on the ball against a strong man u team.

if anything it's given me confidence for our champions league qualifier. for debutant players and a mish mash of a line up i reckon we looked pretty strong, not amazing, but good enough to challenge what is coming to us in the coming weeks.

also props to sammy as he seems like he has matured as a player from result of world cup. he seems eager to chase back and forth compared to last year when he would cry into his l'oreal hair if he fluffed a chance or got beaten too easily.

anyway fingers crossed and i reckon we should be optimistic with our chances this year!

    hail hail!

He scored 21 goals last season plus 16 in 18 appearances for Falkirk. He's exactly what we need if you ask me.

I think that Murphy might be here to replace Fortune (10 goals and 3 assists) I would expect that from a midfield player not a striker.

+ No one expects anything from Murphy that might really help him..

    I hope so
