I won't lie, the hypocrisy of John Reid and the board is a bit of a joke. Firstly they tell the Green Brigade to leave politics at the door ( and all fans ) yet they agree to the wearing the poppy on the strip. Basically they are getting involved in politics by doing so (anyone who suggests there isnt a political aspect to Poppies are wrong in my opinion)

Another disappointing factor for me was the quick statement made by the club to air its stance. Im not annoyed at what they said but in recent weeks there have been a few events occured that the club refused to put forward its official statement to, and when they did it was basically in backing of the SFA. They also have never, ever had the balls to condemn Rangers fans for singing about the deaths 'fenians' or the unforgivable BJK campaign which is so vocal at Parkhead. Yet the club were quick to issue a statement condemning their own fans? Disappointing imo.

Was it not John Reid that reported 'the famine song' as racist?

Did Celtic not complain about the Famine song which then lead to Strathclyde Police stating they would make arrests if anyone was caught singing it.

Btw, Strathclyde Police have added earphones to their uniform issue :31:

Ok so when is it time to move on from this? When does history become consigned to the history book? When do we learn from this and take it forward? When do we all start trying to get along and make it a better world? Everything is about taking small steps and maybe this is time for taking one of them.

Ah right, so it's only in reporting 'those' songs that gives you a set of balls.

    Gotcha

Nah not at all. The fact that the club has done very, very little to campaign against the slander of one of the greatest people in our history show they have no balls.

Yep and have Rangers fans ceased the singing of that song since 2007?

That's not the point, you said our board have never condemned the song, think that just made swiss cheese out of that post eh?

It's not pedantic mate, your post was just *, nothing more than board-bashing with no substance, do some research before you climb on your high horse.

What actions do you suggest? Celtic are not the governing body, it's up to them to take actions against these people, all we can do is highlight it.

Btw i'm anything but a board basher, i agree with the statement they made and i think our club is run in the right manner. I just felt a bit annoyed that they were so quick to condemn there own fans when they didn't seem to do much on other issues. They certainly haven't done enough to halt the chanting of Rangers fans.

Withdraw our offer of tickets to let them into our ground would be a start. It can be done as I'm sure you remember when they done it to us. It would also help put the issue back into the spotlight, where it should be until eradicated.

One possible measure is stated above. The club could at least threaten to do it to Rangers. Surely i'm not the only person who thinks that condemning our own fans instead when they fail to condemn Rangers fans time after time is wrong?

i know the excuse was that we had broken seats on a previous visit but i'm sure i remember reading a theory that it was actually because that was the last game between the two before the league brought in rules governing how many tickets must be offered to the away fans.
