Agreed, but get ready to vomit again.

Ramirez of Aberdeen for a cheap backup striker, in case Furuhashi is Ange's immovable first choice. Jo won't come if we are offering him bench warming (might be the casuse of the delay), and we do need a target man.

If we don't sign Cho I'm sure there are other options.

There's not one player in Scotland I'd want us to even look at other than Dylan Levitt at Dun Utd. Even then he wouldn't get in out starting XI. But he's a tidy, creative wee player.

I quite like the look of Duk at Aberdeen, could do worse as a third choice striker behind Kyogo and Cho (pls)

I get your point. But there's also little sense in overspending on players needed to play the odd minute, players that are expected to quietly sit on the bench, start in cups and come off the bench when needed. This is under the assumption that whatever striker we buy will be assigned such a role.

So there’s little sense in having strength in depth in your opinion? That’s an extremely short sighted viewpoint.

We wouldn’t have won the league last season without the likes of Giakoumakis, Ralston etc who weren’t first choice. Any team that plays as many games as we do needs a very strong squad to keep up standards. Having substandard SPFL players make up the numbers is asking for disaster.

No. There is sense in having strength in depth. However, if Ange views one striker as clearly superior, then persuading good players to come warm the bench will be very hard. Thus my Ramirez suggestion. Giakoumakis had suddenly lost playing time, and I'm not sure how much any new signing will get. Nothing against Furuhashi, but younger players of a good standard probably won't like to stay on the bench.

We have been really lucky with injuries this season on the whole. And that's me saying that when our captain and most influential attacking player have been out for sustained periods.

The amount of games we play we need a squad of minimum 23 competent players to step in. If players get * off then naturally move them on but we can't risk only having 11-13 players we trust.

Nisbet is the only one of those I'd even entertain and that would be to come in as 3rd choice on low wages for a low fee, which is never going to happen.

We simply have to aim higher.

Sadly I can’t see us getting him, Monaco have been mentioned and I am sure there will be others playing in the big leagues that will buy him. I think we were keen at one point but when he signed the extension to his contract it would have doubled his price from around £4m to about £8m.

I am not so sure we have been that lucky, we lost CCV for a good chunk of our CL games, Starfelt has missed most of the season to date, Taylor is out now, Ralston has missed the last few games, McGregor and Jota as you mention have missed a good bit of game time. Turnbull has missed a fair bit of football too and Haksabanovic now too.

Our squads just a lot more robust to be able to manage them.

Move on O'Riley, Turnbull, Abildaard, Ideguchi, McCarthy and Robertson for £20m

Bring in Gloukh, Laidouni and Vetlesen/Raskin for £11m.

I think it was Bologna that signed him. He’s on loan back to Heerenveen where he’s done relatively well.

We haven’t been, we had Jota, McGregor and CCV injured for the CL games. That’s like having Larsson, Lambert and Mjallby out in the O’Neill days.

We coped because of the squad we have nowadays
