He's certainly an option who could be used to help rotate Abada down the right and allow for Maeda and Jota to focus on the left side between them.

Plus he can whack a free kick and I think he'd love live under Ange.

 

For a versatile winger/ forward Nicolas Jackson at Villarreal would be worth a look. He’s out of contract in the summer and has predominantly played for their B team this season but has had a few appearances in La Liga.

He’s only 20 but is tall and powerful for a winger at around 6’1 and has a strong build. He is very fast isn’t afraid to use his size and physicality to run at players, hold them off or win the ball back high up the pitch. Has good dribbling skills and tricks and good awareness of team mates around him.

He is aggressive having been sent off twice this season but would be worth signing on a bosman.

 

For me the winger I would love us to sign for that exact job is Solbakken from Bodo/Glimt. He has all the tools to be a freakishly good player in Ange’s team.

He is physically brilliant, he is very fast, he is strong, tall and has a good engine.

He is left footed which is something none of our current forward options other than Karamako are. Positionally is equally comfortable on left or right side. He also plays in a team who play a similar way to we do so the transition should be easy.

Technically he is skilful on the ball has good ability to beat a man one on one and good vision to see a pass and look for a team mate. Given his height he is decent in the air as someone to attack the back post, he scores a range of goals from skilful chips and powerful strikes.

He seems a confident guy as well who is mentally strong and has a bit of ‘shithousery’
about him which every good team needs.

His contract situation means come the summer we could sign him on a pre contract and negotiate a fee probably sub £2m to take him then which would be a bargain if it works out you could have an 8 figure sale easily in a season or two.

I do worry others from bigger leagues may come in but if we finish the job and win the league, the offer of guaranteed CL football and still a good salary rise, as he won’t be on much at Bodo/Glimt may be enough to tempt him.

 

Solbakken would be an excellent signing under Ange.

Not that we need too but if we bring the right, right sided wingers...Abada could be moved more centrally and become more of a center forward.

He has it about him to do the role.

To then have choices of guys like Maeda, Giakoumakis, Kyogo and Abada for the center forward role would be amazing.

 

I think you can look at a full forward line of options.

LW- Maeda, Jota or another (Adingra would be class if Jota won’t come), Solbakken.
RW- Solbakken, Abada, Forrest, Dembele (if he stays)
CF - Kyogo, Giakoumakis, Maeda, Abada.

It would be an embarrassment of riches Solbakken picking out runs from Kyogo would be delightful.

Mao Hosoya, 20yo striker from Kashiwa Reysol in the J-League. Another pressing striker, think he’d do well as an understudy to Kyogo.

 

I see Ueda has started off in the J League brilliantly. 5 goals in 7 games. His team are top of the table.

I'd definitely be keeping tabs on him.

 

Anton Stach

6’4 versatile 23 year old German midfielder, capped once for Germany plays for Mainz. He’s big and strong, good on the ball with a good engine on him. Can play defensive midfield mainly but also CM and AM. Right up Ange’s street, and crucially what we would need for a bit of steel in the middle of the pitch.

Amadou Onana

This is the guy I would really, really want though I imagine he’s probably out of our price range now. 20 years old, playing for Lille, 6’6 and such a classy player. He’s strong on the ball, an excellent passer and is a great tackler. Good engine on him, a younger version of Bitton, but a big upgrade on him already.

 

Who was it we were linked with from Brazil I think in January? Seemed a nailed on deal at one point.

 

An area of the world we never exploit. The same could be levelled at the Japanese market, thank * that was corrected.

 

Really need better scouting and getting these players in before they're out of our reach.

Ange's recruiting is so good that I'm fine with anyone he's signing.

 

Aye, Onana is probably a dream but he was a free transfer to Hamburg, then £6.2m to Lille. The guys going to be a * star.

 

We really missed a trick with Jan Couto, such a tidy wee player.

Amadou Diawara would be perfect for the holding role. Looked like the next big thing at Napoli under Sarri and has been bombed out by Mourinho at Roma and wants a move.

 

He’s a player and a good shout. Might have been bombed out, but Roma paid £17.5m for him 2 years ago and still has 2 years on his contract. Not sure that we could get him for anything under £15m, so unless it’s a loan, he looks out of our reach.
