Just seen that Aaron Hickey has the highest minutes for any teenager in the top 5 leagues in Europe this season. More than Florian Wirtz and Jude Bellingham and Gavi. I’d assume the price of £8m is probably over now. Would have been the number one target at left back for me.

So will a number of others to be fair.

 

If we couldn’t get Jota on a permanent we should definitely look at Simon Adingra. Only 20 years old but is very much following in the mould of Kamaldeen Sulemana and if we didn’t go for him now he probably would be out of our reach soon.

He has electric pace is comfortable going in on his right foot or on the outside on his left, has the dribbling ability to beat his man too. Has played on either wing but looks his best on the left.

He also has great anticipation and presses the opposition well. The video below sees him create chances and score goals from this. These are traits that would make him a good fit for an Ange team.

In January Genk tried to buy him but wouldn’t meet the €4m asking price. If it is still around that come the summer and Jota isn’t coming back then we should definitely go for him.

 

Ivan Milicevic 23 year old Bosnian left back at Lokomotiv Zagreb. Tough but looks excellent on the ball and with his deliveries

Lukas Kacavenda at the same side. 19 year old pressing, tenacious midfielder who can score and beat his man. Pretty versatile..

Looks phenomenal. Quick. Direct. Skillful. Can finish..

Only at Silkeborg who are 5th in the Danish top flight and he has 8 goals and 7 assists in 20 game's which us outrageous..

Milicevic looks like a player.

 

Looking at some of the EPL 2 teams for another Frimpong- esq talent at left back and there are a few worth considering.

Ziyad Larkeche, 19 at Fulham, good on the ball and has nice vision for a pass and is pretty good at executing too. He seems comfortable coming inside as well as going on the outside. His position and recovery pace are good as well. One year left on his deal come the summer so could be convinced to come here for his first team chance.

Tayo Adaramola, 18 younger again and maybe more of a prospect than ready for first team but is out of contract at Palace this summer. Capable on the ball and always keen to support the attack. He puts a good ball in as well.

Alvaro Fernandez, 19 year old Spanish full back, excellent on the ball, a good dribbler, carries a goal threat of either foot as well. Is over 6ft so has a good stature too. Technically he is excellent and would suit the inverting full back role. Only issue is he some times try’s to do too much. In his last year come the summer of his Man Utd deal, again could he be tempted by first team football?

 

A left footed centre back who is good at progressing the ball is another position we could do with strengthening particularly given the uncertainties around Julien and whether CCV will sign.

Here are a few options

Haret Ortega, 21, Toluca, Mexican International, who is 6’3 and is dominant in the air in both boxes. He is good on the ball and can distribute the ball well from the back. He has reasonable pace to cope with playing a high line. His deal at Toluca is up in June so he would be a free transfer.

Ahmed Touba, 24, RKC Waalwijk, Algerian international, 6’3 powerful centre back who likes to stride out of defence and start attacks. Ajax and Az were credited last year with an interest in signing him with a fee as low as €1.5m being mooted. Several clubs including Bournmouth have recently been credited with an interest. Attacking wise he looks great like a slightly shorter but broader Ajer in terms of striding out from the back with the ball, last year only Bazoer had more distance carried on the ball in Eredivisie than Touba who had more than top players at Ajax and PSV. Defensively he looks like he can be a bit rash at times but has enough time on his side to be coached into a really good CB.

Joakim Nilsson, 28, Armenia Biefield, Swedish international, 6’ CB who reads the game very well and positions himself well to win make interceptions and recover the ball. Not the tallest but has a decent leap. He is secure in his passing and naturally left sided. Is keeping Starfelt out of the national team starting 11. Has good experience having played Bundesliga for the last two years and his contract is expiring in June so would be a free transfer. His CB partner there Amos Piper is highly rated too as an aggressive ball winning CB but Nilsson is a good partner for him by effectively sweeping up defensively.

Luis Segovia, 24, Independiete,
Ecuadorean international, around 6’ possibly slightly shorter, so short for a centre back however he is strong and technically a very good footballer. He is a good passer of the ball, has good pace, can carry the ball forward out of defence and even play as a left full back as well. He is a very different option to the others on the list but could have a very big upside. His current deal is up in December this year so could be available for a reasonable fee in the summer.

 

Might be worth keeping tabs on. Shinya Nakano.

Left back who is left footed but just as good with right. No stranger to playing an inverted full back role or filling in left side of a back three. Only 18 but broke through the professional ranks at 16 and already has 48 games for Sagan Tosu. Capped for Japan U-23's. Looks sound defensively, can take a man on and can pick a pass.

Jordan Larsson has gone to AIK in Sweden for the rest of the season, could actually be worth going for now come summer, although I'm still not too sure if he'd be the right player
