Player Suggestions

Mathew Ryan is out of contract this summer.

• Turned 32 a couple of days ago. Decent age for a GK. Experienced player with 124 EPL appearances to his name mostly for Brighton. Currently plays for AZ in the Netherlands.
  
• 93 senior caps for Australia. He's their current #1.
• ball-playing keeper / sweeper keeper playing style

 

Whenever I saw him for Australia, he looked good. Could be the Aaron Mooy of goalkeepers.

 

Alvaro Fernandez

Left back that plays for Man Utd but on loan at Benfica. Had a clause in his contract that they'd have to buy him permanently for around £5m if he started 50% of their league games, but that's looking unlikely. Had a loan spell at Granada in La Liga as well. But his best best loan was at Preston in 22/23 - won their YPOTY.



6'1 and comfortable on the ball. Stood out in the Championship so I'm sure he can handle himself physically. Looks perfect for us.

 

Looks excellent for £5m… Benfica have a really good left back in their team as well so not like it’s any fault of his own that he’s not getting as many minutes there.

 

If we lose Matt O'Riley in the summer I wouldn't mind one of the following as a replacement

Eduerd Spertysan from Krasnodar
Albert Gronbaek from Bodo Glint or
Cameron Puertas from Royal Union in Belgium.
Sebastian Nanasi from Malmo

I would of put Ilias Chair from QPR in there before he cracked some boy over the grill with a rock and got a year in jail for it

I wouldn't mind bringing one of them in regardless if we sell O'Riley or not

 

Fotis Ioannidis at Panathinaikos, 24 years old, big strong striker, goalscorer has more than just goalscoring to his game though. 6’2 and mobile.

And he’s used to the pressure scoring for a big club, they’re massive in Greece, it helps when moving here that. Plus found it interesting the snippet that Giakoumakis talked about phoning Samaras before coming here, GG is his international teammate, Samaras being here before then as well who’s big in Greek football and both talk us up, that’s helpful in getting guys like him.

No idea what sort of fee would be involved, I imagine not the cheapest but it’s guys like this we should be able to get.





Hahaha and I’ve just googled Transfer news for him to see a sort of price, Daily Record linked us with him a * week ago.

 

Think we were linked in January as well.

Wanted him at the time as he looks exactly what we need. Big, mobile, and brings others inro play.

 

And a goalscorer, 5 in 6 in the Europa League as well this season. And a decent amount assists as well.

Looks such an all rounder to jump on right now for a decent price for us, or it could be out of reach shortly.

 

Unfortunately we do not have a left back. Aursnes is our starting left back but he is a center mid. The most versatile player to ever walk this earth (center mid but can play anywhere). Check his roles at FM24:



Long story short:
- Grimaldo was our starting LB, left on summer 2023 and his on fire for Bayer Leverkusen;
- we bought Jurasek for 14M€ summer 2023, turned out crap and left on loan in January 2024;
- Juan Bernat arrived on loan from PSG summer 2023, is always injured;
- our LBs were Aursnes (the man who can play anywhere) and Morato (left footed CB);
- Carreras arrived on loan in January 2024 (to replace Jurasek) but is not being given play time either. Aursnes plays everytime.

 

Panathinaikos reportedly rejected a 12M offer from Stuttgart in January. The reported asking price is around 20M.

 

Harrison burrows won League 1 POTY

 

Makoto Mitsuta, from Sanfrecce Hiroshima. This is his third J league season, after his first he was credited as having the best debut season since Mitoma.

A versatile player who can play off either wing, as a 10 or even as an attacking 8. He is quick, has good dribbling skills, an eye for a pass, is a good crosser and has some strike on him too. Very good at set pieces as well, he is small but puts in a shift in terms of pressing and is pretty effective at winning the ball back in the final third.

His versatility and creativity make him a good pick up for what would likely be a small fee. I could see him fit in on either wing or as cover for a Hatate type 8 in the middle of the park.

 

Che Adams - scored again tonight. Contract with Southampton up this summer. Still fairly young at 27, would score for fun for us

 

Lennon miller and that mc cowan from dundee.

Thought mc cowan was younger but honestly was the best player on the pitch lastnight, doing one twos, skinning people, really took the game by the scruff at times, reminded me a little of our own mcgregor.

 

Today has really sealed any argument over that.

 

... I'd sign both.

 

I mean, we wouldn't have beaten Hibs or Motherwell without him.
