Apparently that Charlotte Fc (same side that bought abada) put in a bid of 7.5 mill for Bodo Glints Albert Gronbaek but the player refused the move. Surely if their accepting that kind of money we have to go in for him in the summer.

A couple of signings like McKenna on a free and the others I mentioned in my post would free us up to spend big on 3 or 4 positions.

We need a lot of players in given how poor our transfer activity was this season. So having seasoned pros with good experience and the fact he counts as a home grown player makes him a no brainer.

It could be paper talk but it does look like we are actually looking at these sort of deals at least even if not getting them. Smal, Zoubir, O’Hare, Vaessen all fit that profile.

Dani De Wit of Alkmaar is another as a box crashing physical 8/10 type centre midfielder who I think would be a good pick up coming into his peak years.

Tochi Chukwuani as a physical, high potential centre midfielder would be another.

Likewise Alex Robertson who is a City player but on loan at Portsmouth, he was having an O’Riley-esq league one season before injury there.

Marco Grull at Rapid who played on the opposite wing from Kuhn to good effect.

If we can pick up a few of these types then spending a bit on a new striker, classy centre midfielder or winger, left back and keeper shouldn’t be out the question, especially if O’Riley goes.

Che Adams is out of contract this summer. Not the type of forward BR likes up front, but I hope we hire a new manager tbh.

Che Adams is not homegrown just incase anyone's thinking that, I would say he wouldn't be a good option for us personally

I think he’s a good player who would provide a different option for us, very good at dropping deep and linking play but also can be quite physical. Think he and Kyogo would be great as a pair but we won’t play that way obviously.

Might be out of our reach now, but Biereth at Arsenal (who spent the first half of the season at Motherwell, now Sturm Graz) looks like he has a lot of talent already and is very well rounded.

@Celtic_Daft1888 i think it was you who mentioned Jota Silva. I see we were loosely linked with him today alongside half the bottom of the premiership and promotion hopefuls from the Championship.

    Any link to that mate?

Jota Silva would be excellent here. I appreciate we can’t purchase main players from the likes of Sporting, Porto and Benfica and it’s probably out of our budget to target players from Braga.

However, Vitoria always seem to produce decent players in Portugal and Jota Silva has excellent stats. Very similar in style to our Jota as well. Don’t know how much he would be going for but it would be quite expensive I’d think

In January Vitória was looking to get 10M+€. Krasnodar offered 10M€+2M€ in bonus but Jota refused to leave. He made his national debut yesterday so I'm thinking 15+M€ now.

Vitória's record sale was 20M€ (Tapsoba to Leverkusen in 2020).

It was one of those click bait sites but then a good few EFL websites done pieces on it.

The one thing that will impact his price negatively is the summer is their last chance for a decent sale as he only has a year left on his deal. I doubt they will get €15m because of that.

Even €15m or £12.5m shouldn’t be out of our budget. Especially for a player of that quality. I agree with you though, if we could get them down to say £10m, we should be all over it.

Add that sort of price in with the price that Bodo accepted for Gronbaek, £7m. 2 quality players for £17m. Then add in someone like McKenna on a free transfer.

I also see that Napoli aren’t willing to spend the £7m on Leander Dendonker from Wolves. Could get him for a cut price fee. Say even £5m. That’s 4 players, in 4 different positions that make us better for £22m. We will get more than that for O’Riley.

Granted, we still need a left back and a goalkeeper but puts us on our way. Especially with the ability to get another £10m for the likes of Lagerbielke, Mikey Johnston, Bernabei, Seigrist, Kobayashi, Maeda, Tilio, Hacksabanovic. Then what? £6m for the sales of Frimpong and Tierney?

    Time to get things progressed.

I've mentioned him a few years ago, but Ivica Ivušić is Croatia's no. 2. GK and he saved 3 penalties in a shootout against Tunis in a friendly mini-tournament last night. Plays in some Cypriot club- way below his ability. Tall and can distribute the ball, while capable of performing in big games- our only win against France was with him between the sticks.

I thought he seemed a good shout, you any idea what he’s doing at Paphos FC or something like that?

    * knows. I guess his former club needed any money, and fast. I was really shocked a decent side didn't go for him. He is of course, the best GK in the Cypriot league.

Think we should take advantage of Ajaxs plights in the summer and go after Borna Sosa for the LB position. Croatian first choice LB in and out of the team like a lot of their better players this season.

How much has Celtic got available for transfer.
Remember the court case will take millions out of the clubs coffers

Jobe bellingham. Not a prayer tbh but I think we should at least ask the question.

It’s hard to say, that depends if we win the league or not we still had £67m in January and that was accounting for paying a lot of other things off so even with the second half of season loss we will have at least that cash in the bank and then the Abada sale on top.

Add in O’Riley will be off in the summer for big money and there won’t be a Benfica style 30% sell on to pay maybe 10% on profit but O’Riley had a release clause in his MK Dons deal that’s why he was only £1.5m.

The unknown just now is European football we will be playing at least the new Europa League but if we win the league and sell O’Riley you are looking at a crazy balance going into the summer even with compensation taken into account.

Basically it’s impossible to say but I don’t think O’Riley will be our only sale either and even taking into account not winning the league and the likely compensation payment we will still have more money at the club than we did to spend in Ange’s first season and look at how many players we needed then.

I don’t like to speculate on compensation amounts as it doesn’t feel right putting a value on people’s suffering but it will likely be inline with precedents from other club compensation schemes.

I’m trying to not get hopes up or read into it too much but the links we’ve had already for summer transfers. The Turkish keeper seemingly looks an actual firm proper enquiry with what’s been leaked from over there, Nicholson being mentioned as the guy making contact etc. and it’s starting off as £7.5m bid, which means its the minimum we’d hope for being accepted. We’ve got a budget to spend, there was another link last week around the same price, I can’t remember his name think he was from Leicester and is apparently a Tim (maybe no my cousin showed me and be gets excited over that sorta stuff) but he was £10m odd link.

We’ll have an idea what we’re going to pay out, how much would be covered insurance how much we’ll need to pay from the money we have been stockpiling, so we’ll have no ambiguity about what we have to spend.

And I think we might actually, just Rodgers clearly had a wee power struggle that ended with Mark Lawwell and the other guy leaving, he’d not be here if he didn’t think he’d have the resources and with the two windows he’s endured, then they two immediately * off and all the wee rumours floating about he went to Desmond either it’s that, it changes or he’s gone… wee links coming out this far before the window opens. The court case being settled soon when we’ll know the general payout needed.

It feels like we will finally stretch financial muscle. So I’m preparing to be * gutted buying into it and looking for signs to back up what I desperately want us to do and believing the ones I find :56:

    It’s the Celtic Way

From the little I know of both, I wouldn’t say Cakir is leagues above Ivušić, and if the latter is going to be far cheaper - and our scouts think he could do a good job - I think we should at least consider going for him instead.
