He is some player, would likely be our record signing though meaning our board won't want near him. If we really had any ambition we would be all over him

Wish we had made a move for Mika Biereth of Arsenal who was on loan at Motherwell now Sturm Graz. Definitely seems to have something about him.

If he is to go out on loan in the summer again would be worth a look.

I know Denkey has been mentioned by a few and he would be a great signing but there is apparently interest in him from Spain, England and France. It is also likely he is sold for more than £10m according to Scott Coyne of the Belgian football podcast who is a consultant to clubs in Belgian football.

I could believe that if Brugge just got £30m for Igor Thiago who isn’t as good a player I would say.

He was signed for about £7m just back in the summer from Ludogrets who bought him in February 2022 for about £1m. Some mark up in two years and again shows what good scouting can do.

Given the sort of fees Brugge now get Meijer will likely be out of our price range.

The other thing I heard today was Emil Brevik another who has been suggested has a broken leg.

Another one many on here have suggested, including myself.

Albert Gronbaek. He’s banged in 2 goals for Bodo against Ajax tonight. He’s run them ragged. Likely well out of budget now.

Maybe. I don't think Bodo overprice their players...they sold that forward Moumbagna for 8 million euros they also sold Vetlesen who a lot of boys mentioned on here for 7.5 million euros off the back of a 16 goal 7 assist season for Bodo. It'll be the fact the club won't bother their * to go for him.

A more realistic option than Denkey would be Mujica, 3rd top scorer in the Portuguese league, has something about him

Iheanacho has been suggested on one of the fan sites. Out of contract in the summer and not a regular for Leicester at the moment.

Some under the radar players worth a look who are having good seasons.

Till Cissokho, 24 year old left sided centre back, 6’7 centre back. Plays for a terrible team in ligue 2 but actually had pretty good stats and ability. Despite being very tall he is good on the ball both at carrying out from the back and is decent at passing. Strong in duels, uses his size well.

Another left sided giant centre back playing in Ligue 2 is 24 year old Serge Raux Yao.
He is about 6’5 and very good on the ball has a lovely diagonal on him strong at carrying the ball out of defensive and decent defensively too. Copenhagen apparently had an eye on him in January.

Amine Sbai is a technically gifted winger playing with Grenoble who are near the top of ligue 2. Likes to play off the left, has good acceleration, close control and the eye for a pass in the final third. Is not long turned 23 and this seems like his best season to date but definitely looks talented.

Croatian Goalkeeper Nikola Cavlina could be worth a look. He was released by Dinamo Zagreb but had been playing very well for Lokomotiva. Still only 22 seems to be an all round good goalkeeper, that likes to claim crosses and is decent with his feet. Maybe not ready to be our number 1 but could be a good prospect to back up a new number 1.

Anosike Ementa, is a 21 year old Danish/Nigerian striker who is about 6’7. His goal return isn’t great so far but he has a pretty good all round game, for someone his size he has a decent touch and good dribbling ability, his long stride lets him cover ground quickly and he is good with his back to goal and coming off the front to let inverted wingers go in beyond him helping him manage 4 assists this season and 5 goals from 14 starts and 3 sub appearances. His physical qualities are very good and unique which would offer us a totally different type of striker.

He also plays in a team in the bottom half of the table and is meeting his xG and post shot xG so give him more chances he would likely score more goals.

Cameron Puertas 25 yrs old Attacking Mid Royale Union in Belgium. 27 games 5 goals 13 assists. We lack a real driving force from midfield just now. He's a creative force going forward but likes a tackle....he sits 5th in most duels won in the top 10 leagues this season with 192. Would cost around 7 million.

Too much money as he costs more than a packet of Space Invaders in 1996.

If we were to buy him, he'll be *. If we don't buy him, he'll be * hot.

    That's our trading model.

Where are you getting the £7m figure from? I thought he may be closer to double that.

The main issue is he is probably already passed where we could attract him to us or be willing to pay anywhere near the fee commanded.

To me we should be signing guys USG are picking up before they get there. It’s similar with the likes of Denkey at Cercle Brugge who have a decent record of picking up talented players who maybe haven’t quite made it at a top league or team at a young age.

I'm just quoting Transfermarket if that's anything to go by. It's easier said than done finding the players before they command a big fee and are making a name for themselves. Denkey was picked up from Nimes in the French 3rd Division back when cercle brugge were relegation fodder. Just look at all the scottish talent from the spl we've missed out on. Also Puertas only has a year left on his contract. I want the club to at least attempt to get these kind of players in.

Nimes have been in free fall the last two seasons but before that were a ligue 1/ ligue 2 yo-yo team.

At the time he left as a 19 year old he had featured in 24 games in ligue 1 with 4 goals and 2 assists and also played 12 games in ligue 2 with 1 goal, 11 of them were on loan. In terms of ligue 1 that was probably a better record than Edouard when he had gone to Toulouse on loan. Don’t get me wrong it’s took a few seasons for him to get going as last season and this one have been his best at Cercle Brugge.

In terms of it being hard I don’t disagree but we need to at least try, not just rely on agents recommendation or ex players.

Build a proper recruitment department instead of hiring an ex manager and Chairman’s son as your scouting and recruitment team or prior to that have said chairman being renounced for wanting to be a defacto director of football whilst CEO and a background as an accountant.

Cercle Brugge may not be the best example but USG, Brentford (when they started their approach), Stade Reims, Sturm Graz, Midjtylland and a few others all worked off smaller budgets than ours and seem capable of unearthing quality players on a budget.

Nah I agree with you. I'd like to see us adopt the same process that Brightons got...or Porto and Ajax a few years ago but that'll require time and money. And we have tried this season with Lagerbielke,Holm,Yang and Tilio and they may come good yet but supporters seem to be fed up of project players and want tried and tested players with European experience that cost that little bit more. But aye if it was upto me I'd be setting up networks in Scandanavia, Croatia and maybe South America and finding these players at the source

Tell all agents the maximum amount we will pay a player and to get to * if you want more.
Any player interested in playing for Celtic will know from the start.

Belgian teams are quite a good example, not to anywhere near the same extent, but Scotland national team has being doing well, players playing from Scotland in the top leagues like Premiership and Serie A.

The more * like that happens, the more we can demand. ‘A young promising Belgian, starring in their youth teams’ that’s a sign of quality in the last 15 years.

We need Scottish players and national team to keep up what we’re doing, because it effects * like this
