The two guys I wanted us to sign from Ligue 2 were Jean Onana, who played for Bordeaux and Mikhautadze from Metz.

This is still a silly, reductive caricature of what Rodgers wants. He doesn’t solely want his striker to come deep, just as much as he doesn’t solely want runs in behind.

Ange, along with off-the-ball pressing, basically did want his strikers just to keep as high as possible all the time. Rodgers wants a bit of everything.

By ‘complete’ I don’t mean technically perfect in everything they attempt; he just needs his forwards to be present in every attacking area, and know when to be where. That’s been a big adjustment for Kyogo, no doubt, but you can see from the last few games that it’s beginning to click now, and it certainly doesn’t look like a Petković, deep-lying role - it’s much broader than that, and includes running off the last man when it’s on.

Does it include scoring less because there's way less chances he's getting into? A bit of everything means not doing any single thing right. The average position map against St. Mirren had Kyogo in O'Riley's lap. That just feels wrong. Okay, we won 3-0. But I want my striker to have as many chances as possible to score- and those are most commonly found in the penalty box.

In theory (and in practice for literally every other striker he’s tried it with) it results in more chances; not fewer. Not as reliant on players ‘finding him with a pass’. Again, you’re at it: you don’t need me to dig up Moussa’s, Eddy’s or anyone else’s numbers under Rodgers.

Duk at around £2.5m would be interesting.

Tbh think he'd offer far more than all our widemen bar Palma. Maybe not beat Abada goalwise, but would offer far more creativity as Abada is awful in that department.

    Does a lot of work.

Arjanet Muric would be my ideal GK.

Big * and decent with his feet. No longer no1 at Burnley, playing tonight.

Hopefully Patson Daka stays away from us. Guy is brutal, one of Rodgers big mistakes at Leicester. Im sure he was a Congerton signing.

I tipped him last season when he was on
fire, and I thought he looked better than Miovski, but this season he hasnt got going and has been largely used off the bench in the past few months.

A lot of sheep saying Robson doesnt know how to use him and that he plays anti football and so it kills Duks game.

He is rapid and a good dribbler of the ball.

Probably an ambitious shout, but I'd like us to try and get Javi Puado from Espanol. He is likely their best player and I'm sure they'd do everything to keep him to try to get promoted.

Top winger, can pay left and right. Rapid, decent build, scores a lot. Contracted till June 2025. Valued at around €8.000.000, according to transfermarkt.

    A man can dream. :(

He uses him as an impact off the bench, the big games anyway, I don’t know about bog standard week to week ones. And it’s worked quite well a high quality player, different style from what’s on the pitch, coming on to have a different threat. Worked on the teams that are better than them they shouldn’t be able to go toe to toe with.

Frankfurt games, Huns, couple other games in Europe they done not bad that way. When it’s teams in the SPFL they should be scudding with the squad they have, it seems to be if it’s not Miovski it’s not happening.

Never ever take TransferMarkt values as anything that relates to real life mate. I’m sure start of last year the top 5 highest value in Scotland were all Rangers players.

@ArminCeltic just checked ours and was surprisingly decent - then seen £7m Greg Taylor, 7th highest value in the team, drawing with Abada. I don’t know where they pluck the values from.

I use it for stats a lot, and generally if there’s a £5m rated player, I expect them to be punted for £20m/£30m within a year odd :56::56:

I'm surebl it is done by the members, if you create an account you can value GT as 100m if you like. Its not done by stats or logic

Tbh Taylor is worth lot more than £7m so I completely agree with you when you discredit Transfermarkt valuations :fear::56:

Siad it before and again, I know it was only a pre season game but if you want the perfect example of what Rodgers wants from his striker go and watch Maeda's performance against Yokohama.

I think there's a chance we mite not sign a striker this window and instead we sign a winger to free up Maeda.

Rodgers has said himself, he thinks hes more of a striker he's just not been able to play him there bcoz our recruitment team gave him 2 projects as wingers who were nowhere near ready and then Abada got injured too

Although he scored for fun in Austria he struggled in Europe. 1 CL goal, 2 EL goals and 2 CLQ goals. I think they paid over 20m too. Would have been better off with Eddy.
