Player Suggestions

A few players in the last 6 months to a year of their deals that I think would be realistic targets for us.

Left back - Kai Wagner, Philli Union, 26 been playing in MLS most of his career but had attracted the attention off Brentford and another EPL team back in January but never moved. Seems a very solid all round full back who provides plenty of assists and is keen on a move back to European football. Contract up December 23.

Martin Frese, FC Nordsjaelland, 25 year old full back, is ho chips in with goals and assists. Seems a solid performer for a good team.

Centre Back - Miles Robinson, Atlanta Utd, 26 years old. Good all round centre back, had a bad injury in 2022 but has come back strong in 2023 and has not signed the contract offered to him as he is said to want to move to Europe. Contract is up in December this year.

Defensive centre midfielder - Max Bird, Derby County, 22 years old played over 100 games in Championship and was once very highly rated when breaking through.

Attacking Centre midfielder - Dani de Wit, AZ Alkmaar, 25 year old goal scoring physical centre midfielder. Off to a flier this year but has scored and assisted plenty for a few seasons now. Coming into his peak years offers good physicality from centre midfield.

Mohamed Diomande, FC Nordsjaelland, 21 year old, slightly built but very skilful on the ball and provides a goal threat and creates a lot of chances. Also deceivingly strong.

Hannes Wolf, BMG, 24 years old, we were linked before but never happened, seems a waste of a talent.

Wingers - Marco Grull, Rapid Vienna, 25 year old versatile forward with a good goalscoring record.

Alexander Aravena, U. Catalocia, 21 year old, Chilean international, exciting young talent probably a lot of competition for him but looks a real talent.

Striker- Sekou Koita - Red Bull Salzburg, 23 year old Malian international. Good goal record but has often been behind other big talents at Salzburg.

 

Lucas Bergvall. Box to box 8 in the Swedish top flight..

17 years old by the way. Mental..

19 year old midfielder with 5 goal contributions in 7 for Osijek..

Another is Toni Fruk..

22 year old midfielder with 1 goal and 5 assists in 7 for Rijeka..

 

I'd go for Toni Fruk, just for the songs we could sing...

 

That game the other night highlights that we need to stop with the project players and get in tried and tested players with European experience over a few seasons starting with a * DM that we've been crying out for for years

 

Whilst I agree on proven players and the defensive midfield position being a good example, I think even our project signings need upgrading.

We should be doing our best to sign a couple of really good prospects that are not ready maybe to play at top end of EPL, La Liga and Bundesliga but are for our league. The Belgian clubs, Salzburg, Alkmaar and a few others seem really good at this.

 

I'd rather we found a new Mooy. An experienced head who can still play well.

 

That Xeka that played for Lille is still a free agent for some reason....only 28 as well

 

Liam Lindsay seems to be flying in the championship with Preston

 

He'll already be out of our reach then.

 

Aye, I suggested him a while ago. He’s a type of player we lack as well

 

A guy still out of contact is former Stuttgart player and PSG academy prospect Tanguy Coulibaly who is predominantly a left footed right winger.

Still only 22, he is a versatile player who can play across the front 3 and even had a run at wing back a couple of seasons ago.

His main skills are his ability in 1v1 duels both from an attacking perspective with his pace and dribbling but also out of possession he uses his pace and strength to press well and win the ball back.

His main weakness is his crossing but he has scored a few goals and his general passing is decent. Plays a lot like Bakayoko of PSV.

In 2021 he was touted for big things even being Sancho’s replacement at Dortmund for his all action style. It hasn’t materialised yet but could be one for Rodgers to get his arm around and get the best out of him.

On a free and low wages could be worth a punt, he certainly matches the pace and power description from Rodgers and would give us a left footed winger.

 

It's already been said in here, but Lennon Miller is 100% someone we should be signing in January.

 

Caoimhin Kelleher could be a decent keeper in the rite team.Hes wasted at liverpool and will never be number 1 there so a move would be good for his career.

Were struggling in the keeper department harts coming to the end and any back up we have dont look to good.

 

Sign and loan back for 18 months

 

100% should be all over this.

Igoh Ogbu CB for Slavia Prague iv watched them a few times now and he's got pretty much everything you want in a centre half

Absolutely, long term successor to mcgreggor. Would be amazed if the club didn't broker some kind of deal

 

Shkodran Mustafi is still a free agent

 

Rafiu Durosinmi, 20 year old Nigerian striker tearing it up for Viktoria Plzen in the Czech league with 6 goals and 6 assists in 10 games this season so far and another 3 goals in 6 Europa conference qualifiers.

He is about 6’3, got good mobility, a nice touch, is good in the air or on the deck and scores a variety of goals. Gets on the end of things like a Giakoumakis but also has classier goals in his locker. Can also play just off a striker or off the right wing but his best position is up top.

I know it’s a YouTube video but it gives off vibes of one of those young African strikers who go on to make it big after they move to Belgium or a league like that.



Oliver Provstgaard, 20 year old left sided centre back playing in Denmark and for their U21 national team. Reminds me a lot of Ajer, as he is around 6’4 and has that long stride that lets him cover the ground at decent pace and he likes to step out from the back with the ball and carry it forward to start attacks.

Was playing first team football in the second tier last year at 19 but playing top flight this season and has played every minute of every game as well as 8 games for Denmark U21. He seems to be viewed as a big talent in Danish football.



Alexander Prass, 22 year old dynamic centre midfielder who can also play off the left wing. He has good physical attributes, a cracking left foot in terms of passing and shooting and looks a real box to box centre midfielder. He has also been capped by Austria.



Tochi Chukwuani, 20 year old Danish U21 centre midfielder who is built like a tank at about 6’2 with a strong physique which he uses well both in and out of possession. However he also has good pace and a nice touch on the ball.

Is versatile in that he has played 6,8 and 10 for Lyngby, was part of the Nordsjaelland set up but left for regular first team football. Already had 50 games at top flight level in Denmark.

He is out of contract in the summer.



Edit: I should have also added Alexander Areneva, 21 year old Chilean winger, who has already got 2 full seasons of first team football under his belt in his home land and 3 full caps for Chile.

The guy looks like a proper Jota replacement in that he is equally comfortable playing off either wing, has strong dribbling skills, composure on the ball particularly in front of goal, having scored 11 goals and 3 assists in the league in 30 last season and in 24 so far this year has 11 goals and 5 assists. He also looks quicker than Jota was.

He has been linked with a few teams so far but yet to make a move Sunderland and Blackburn have both heavily been linked with him over the past two summers.

Transfermarkt have his contract expiring this December but in the articles discussing a transfer to Sunderland it suggests, a €3.3m bid was rejected from one of the Russian teams and they were looking for closer to £6m for him, which if he had only 6 months on his contract would have made no sense. Could always be nonsense in terms of the price quoted as most sources seem to have him out of contract in December.

Not sure of the strength of the Chilean league but he definitely looks to have a lot about him.
