I'm not sucking up his * mate.

I'm encouraged for the team as things stand now for the rest of the season.

Only concern for me is that vvd doesn't throw the toys out.

Maybe some on here are not able to admit any good done by PL,
but truth be told I don't blame him for all the ill that befalls us &
by the same token don't think he is the one that does all the good
    that comes to us

He's not in mine. Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted springs to mind.

    Indubitably.

Lessons should have been learned after Fletcher, Karagandy and clearly Lennons intimations. I'll not mention the fans views :smiley-laughing002:

Too close to the cliff repeatedly and this year we fell short.

One purchase and the rest are loan signings, not enough commitment, compounded wae having a Virgil half torn.

Saying that, the players we have brought in do intrigue, Scepovic had a good season last year, Guidetti has previous good form although tights have been ripped. Wakaso could be something else IMO.

Gordon is a gamble but a decent one, everyone agrees I'm sure.

If the team clicks, I believe they will be exciting, my concern is, come the end of the season and we have built a decent squad, took the time to gel together with some experience in the Europa, similar to Lennon's boys, we end up unable to secure the loan signings and back to the drawing board.

Serious risks with so many loans that are regarded first teamers. All of them if I'm correct.

    Denayer*
    Mubarak*
    Tonev
    Berget
    Guidetti*

Certainly three in there that should be stand outs. Three we'll unlikely get to keep.

Hope thats been a reasonable amount of balance for both naysayers and happy clappers alike :smiley-laughing002:

Isn't Denayer the only one that we don't have the option to buy on?

This thread proves that either some posters just don't want to be happy or don't want to understand that the timing of a player coming to Celtic is not solely in Lawwell or Celtic hands . It amazes me, how some Celtic fans just have to be miserable and continue to condemn Lawwell or someone else at Celtic .

It's already been confirmed. The rest have an option to buy.

Has Guidetti got an option to buy? Thought he was out of contract at the end of the season?

Lawell has somewhat redeemed himself, but was it only because the Celtic fans put pressure on him to get some players in.

Anyway credit where credits due, he appears to have got us two quality strikers.

Congratulations to Peter Lawell and the board on the signings and outgoing loans in this window
I hope the loan idea is adopted as policy( What an effin fortune we'd have saved on Bangura,Balde,Boeriggter,Blackman,Juarez,Pukki etc)
When you read the balance sheet you can see that they have reinvested the majority of the profits.
This years balance sheet should be published at the end of this month. :bbpd:

    I'm not picky.
In all honesty I think this was probably said a couple of seasons ago as well.

On the signing front we have done OK I'd say. Got rid of some dross (well, out on loan at least) and brought - hopefully - better players in. Also kept van Dijk as well which was important.

As mentioned earlier by someone, though...it'll be interesting to see how the Club handle this ridiculous UEFA fine for the Palestine flags.

Celtic bhoyDavid although most of us probably agree that UEFA 's fine for Celtic's fans displaying the Palestine flags is ridiculous , there is very little Celtic can do about it . Celtic can question it , appeal it but at the end of the day if UEFA insist on the fine been imposed there is sweet * all Celtic can do about it .

I cannot understand the fuss posters make about the timing of the players coming in to Celtic by way of loan or buying . It's not within Lawwell 's sole descretion to decide the timing . Celtic are not the only possible destination for loans and purchases in the window
Players and the clubs the players are registered with, are entitled to wait to see if they can get a more lucrative move to a wealthier and more competitive league . Players will go to where they think their career will be best both financial and football wise . Not many Countries in Europe have exciting young players dreaming of playing for Celtic any more .

I don't think so but if he impresses we will no doubt have the option to sort out a deal for him in January on some sort of pre-contract arrangement.

Pete and Ron can use their connections at City.

Did you not see us getting rightly pumped by Legia and struggling (and ultimately failing) against Maribor?

Of course it's not all Lawwell's doing, but it's known fact he's not one to loosen purse-strings and gamble even a little with finances. Everyone and their dog could see that Celtic needed a quality striker capable of playing up top on his own and another few additions (IMO a proficient, natural anchor man to shield the defence and stop us leaking goals, but others have their opinions) to avoid struggling in CL qualification; and Deila stated both that he wanted wingers and that the squad wasn't good enough on more than one occasion. However, instead we chose to 'wait and see' before signing anyone of note in key areas; and we were never going to spend big anyway so why wait until deadline day before spending £2.2M on Scepovic? And if Scepovic wasn't interested prior to qualification, why not try for a different target?

As much as I understand Lawwell's prudent approach and also believe we'd have lost against Legia whether we'd brought in a key player or not (Maribor is a different story), sometimes you need to speculate to accumulate. If we'd have signed Scepovic or another capable number 9 prior to the final round of qualifying we'd have probably beaten Maribor; and even if we hadn't, we could at least say "we tried" and it'd indicate to the fans serious ambition to get beyond the qualifiers.

Fact is that if we're likely to spend money anyway, why not spend at least a fraction of it in reasonable time on the addition most likely to get us through qualifying? We can always forego a signing if we don't qualify, and with a squad our size there's no reason we can't offload players and save money afterwards.

This years qualification was an absolute farce. As it turns out we've made some decent signings, but if we're not sensible about the timing then we run a hugh risk of losing out.

I heard Big Pistol rubs branston pickle between his arsecheeks. It provides moisture for the old pumping, helps his hemorrhoids and provides "a stinging, yet satisfying tickle".

    Smooth Pickle, mind.
