He probably won't get a payout if he walks either.

I would say giving a manager no money to shape his team, is having no faith in him.

It would be, aye, but I doubt Deila will quit off the back of it.

People are forgetting though when saying no money all the time. That if Berget, Wakaso and Tonev turn out good then they will cost about £6/7million that will have to be spent to sign them.

Considering he's only been in the job for a few months it would be absolutely astounding in the board already have enough of a lack of faith that they'll give him absolutely nothing to spend.

Of course, they were willing to spend money on a player yesterday who decided to reject us at the last minute, but lets not allow minor details get in the way.

Fair point. However, there's massive changes need in the squad.

That cant be based on 4 loan signings.

I'm fed up really. I backed him when he was doing well but the last 18 months or so he's really * up and deserves the criticism coming his way. It's not coming from internet bampots or ned fans with devil dugs who won't understand football finance - everyone from the GB to the prawn sandwich brigade are rightfully unhappy with Celtic PLC's recent (in)actions and things need to change for the better. I think Lawwell has too much power as he's basically our director of football, chief executive, chairman and chief spokesperson all in one. He's obviously Desmond's guy and has been given authority to do as he pleases really.

We seem to have completely abandoned the sensible policy which brought us success and stability and are back to square one in terms of rebuilding a team, where we were in 2010 post-Mowbray.

Lawwell keeps hopping from one foot to the other with his public statements and nothing's adding up. Either we're a poor club who need to develop our own and just play academy kids - i'd be happy with that for long term gain. Or we really are one of the "best run clubs in Europe" in which case * act like it and spend some cash.

We have made massive profits in the last few years whilst almost every other big team post losses, yet we still can't fix the glaring errors in our playing staff or pay our other staff a living wage?

On the one hand Lawwell moans about those nasty English clubs with all their money, but he's happy enough to sell our stars to them for big bucks. Then he says we've only stayed afloat since Rangers died by selling players - yet when they went down he said we had a stand alone policy completely unaffected by other clubs. Make up your * mind.

"We can spend £8 million on a player" - actually spends £0. He's all over the place.

He's lost, he's not made a single sensible or factually correct statement for months.

Does anyone really think we are going to take up the offer on all these loan deals? I don't think there is a hope in *.

    I'm not picky.
And think how much wages we would save by not bringing in all these players that would hardly ever play. They may not be top earners but how much wages (and transfer fees) have we paid in players like Pukki, Baldé, Fridjonsson, Boerrigter, Mouyokolo, Bangura etc? If quality was brought in rather than quantity then the wages that get paid to those "fringe" players would go towards more decent players.

It's not as complicated as you are making it seem.

Pretty much yeh. I mean the plans, for instance, for the refurbishments around Celtic Park were already going to be done anyway, so really the money we have got for the last 2½ years can be seen as bonus money. He says it's been invested, but where and I think it's that that's annoying a lot of people. That and us selling players for £10m - £12m and bringing in free/loan signings.

If you can highlight exactly where all these extra tens of millions have been spent and invested in for the last couple of years then you're a better man than me.

    http://www.celticfc.net/downloads/Celtic_plc_Interim_Report_2013.pdf

I'm not saying that there is a vault full of millions just collecting dust, but for the Board to be as tight fisted as what they are being after making all that money the last couple of years is a bit ridiculous. Or course we have to be careful, but there is no excuse for not loosening the purse strings a wee bit.

Of course it takes a vast amount to run a Club likes ours, but the expenses have always been there no matter what, so when you think about it, the money we have earned from the last couple of years has been like bonus money. So unless operating costs have suddenly sky rocketed the last couple of years no one can say that there isn't any extra cash anywhere.

Investment is fine. Looking after the future is fine. Being prudent is fine. But earning 10s of millions in a couple of years (including huge player sales) in bonus money and bringing in things like free/loan signings is taking the * just a bit.

Is lawwell in everyone's good books now? As I said in another thread, I'm happy with the signings but we should have had them done before we played our qualifiers. Hopefully the board don't make the same mistake next year and they've learnt their lesson.

He has redeemed himself somewhat with the deadline day dealings with Guidetti in particular an ambitious signing. As for keeping VVD I'm very glad, but I think the pressure on him forced his hand with this rather than him doing it because he genuinely believed in keeping him (i.e. if he'd not come under fire he'd probably have accepted the bids).

However, I agree with you: there's simply no excuse for not strengthening the key areas of the team that we very obviously need players in prior to qualification, especially when the grand-total fee spent is a paltry £2.2M.

Also still * we've gone yet another window without an adequate replacement for Wanyama or cover at left-back, although I don't really blame him for this unless there were targets in the pipeline that he knocked back.

He's not in mine, it's still too late and the club has been a shambles of late..

It's better news now we have kept players and signed 2 strikers and things are looking better but let's not kid on that everything is rosy in the garden..

Fresh start, make inroads into the europa & better performances in the league
let's also rip into the domestic cup competitions with a good mixture of
    youth & experience.

Can't change what's happened, so hopefully they have learned this time.

I'm going to pretend it is rosey. Glass half full today after guidetti
    getting sorted.

Everyone will probably be sucking up his * now that Guidetti has been confirmed. It'll be interesting to see if or when a statement is released regarding the fine for the Palestine flags.

I dislike Lawwell for other things to be honest. More important things also in my opinion. The way he has treated a section of our fans is nothing short of a disgrace. I wonder if the board will have the backbone to appeal the fine for flying the Palestine flag.
