Looking back, what happened with Max Lowe? We were going to sign him and then pulled out or something? Crazy, really. He's no KT; but he was easily the best non-Celtic player I saw in the SPL last season and would have been solid enough against Cluj, freeing McGregor for the midfield. Would also be decent enough this season while we develop Boli. Young player with sell on value.

Seems a bit daft that to me.

 

Happy to see the back of him and Desmond , we've achieved some fantastic things over the past decade but it should have been more. We could have easily have pushed harder in Europe and it's their failure in signing players that's * us out of two champions leagues.

Bully for him!!! Here's my argument. I believe for a modest, and i mean that, investment amount it could have been so much better with minimal risk. When you buy shares they're are no gurantees. Celtic are in such a strong position that i believe CL qualification could have been achieved in at least 2 of the 4 years we've failed which would brought in circa 50/60 million. More than enough to cover said modest investment and to put even more cash in the bank and then some. More in the bank than currently, better team on the park and more than likely an even greater share price and dividend.

I DO WANT CRAZY MONEY SPENT!!! I get it's a business and guys looking for big cash spent in our league are dreaming. But, but, but there's a whole * world between modest investment and these tight * hoarding * cash!! Arguably to our detriment!!!!


ps- no argument with the domestic run which we are all grateful for however only fair to balance his job against others in the past as for a large of his tenure he's been against either no or very weak hun!!!

Said it for months celtic are stockpiling cash for a reason:

• They know something about europe and the loss of finance.
• They know about lose of domestic revenue
• They want to build the hotel and museum cash

 

It is crazy to think that sides like Bolton and Bury could no longer exist tomorrow.

In the same way in which a big business like Woolworths could just disappear.

We're entering a late phase of hyper football capitalism and more and more sides are going to go bankrupt just like businesses in any other sector.

It's not a surprise that football has gone this way and perhaps Lawwell and co do know something coming down the tracks.

Only logical reason that isn't the 3. option in your list would be projected effects of a hard Brexit on football in the UK. But if the club at least said they are prepared for that eventuality, they would have a somewhat valid reason to stockpile money.

You would assume that part of the criteria for entering would be to have a club with a healthy bank balance.

Could PL be hoarding the cash for that reason?

Part of the criteria you would assume would be for the teams to be competitive against each other. Which we are not. We’re getting scalped by utter dross.
