The bolded is the main thing to realise here. Chasing success by speculating to accumulate* that some folk endlessly parrot is what can very easily kill a club or indeed a business (RBS anyone), once that mentality/course of action becomes built/baked in.

*No matter how wealthy/successful you think you may currently be.

Edit - the bolded is at the bottom of your post.

Depends on your definition of speculating to accumulate.

There's an extremely big difference between spending some of the fans hard earned money on the club/infrastructure/football operations, which would mean more chance of continued participation in the Champions League and spending every single penny the club has and more, while plunging yourself into ridiculous amounts of debt.

There comes a point you have to spend to improve the product on the park and maintain success, otherwise the business will be affected as a direct result of lack of investment in the team.

The only winners are the shareholders at the moment, just being better than them is not good enough when we are constantly being humiliated in Europe.
FFS board show some ambition and we could be playing European football after Xmas on a regular basis.

Naw uncomfortable facts are, usually, simply ignored on here in favour of the popular DD.

Indeed there is mate. Although it is also dependant on the sense of those shouting speculate to accumulate to have the sense/acumen to realise when that shouldn't be THE plan and I've seen little to suggest that wouldn't be THE plan they would follow sadly. Its always easier to not start doing something, than to try and pull back from doing something you started to do.

And tbf its much harder to do that, for long term stability, than it is to spend cash.

I rest the case, cheers JC :fear: :86: :giggle1:

And the individuals who want us to spend for spending sake should be ignored.

I want us to find a good left back and a good striker. I don’t care if that LB is £2m from the Eliteserian or £6m from a Premiership team. There is a left back out there, who plays Rodgers style and we should be able to find them.

You go on the player suggestions thread on here and there is literally hundreds of players we could/should be looking at.

We will always have to be business savvy and look after the club first and foremost. That goes without saying. If we can’t find a chief executive or a chairman who can see that we are beginning to spend beyond our means, there’s a massive problem and theh shouldn’t be there. At the same time, if a chairman or a chief executive is looking at the product on the park right now, while sitting on a literal fortune of wealth, wealth given by the spectators they fleece year upon year, and deciding they don’t need to release a decent portion of funds to give the manager what he wants, they shouldn’t be there either.

I get what you’re saying in isolation, but Celtic FC will never get into a situation that happened in 2012 with them. If I may, it’s not the right time to question loyal fans inability to accept cash issues in the future by continually spending beyond our means when we are making millions of profit, year on year.

All 8 points (just skim down the long winded article) could easily be attributed to PL and the board as a whole over the last decade at least.

It's way over due time of wholesale leadership changes.

    https://governancetoday.com/GT/GT/Blogs/The_Chairman_s_position___how_long_is_long_enough_.aspx

General rule, chairman should last 5-8 years, various bullet points highlighting reasons why.
Again, we can look at all of them and check them off with things at Celtic over the last 20 years now.

Of course he's been CEO and then chairman but the principle stays.

How we've let this get to this stage of staleness is shocking. And that's being kind

I don’t really see any of our fans just wanting to spend for the sake of it. I see fans desperate for us to spend money that we can afford and is within our means as a way to progress the club. Which in turn should allow us to grow as a club, bringing in money with it. If we were more successful in Europe, it would also make us a more attractive proposition for players, and if we were doing well as a team, it would also mean we could command more for players as they would be getting suitors from bigger clubs in European football. I think a lot of our fans just can’t grasp this about how much our board are holding us back.
