    Fully is this.
And it's what worries me most long term at the club.

Some folk are allowing the role to be played down, for some weird reason to allow/accept lawwell back in.

But at the end of the day, he is the guy heading up the board and everything will go through him at some stage.

His job technically may not be to interact directly with Ange, but you can bet absolutely anything that Nicholson agrees to with Ange has been approved by Lawwell to some degree.
And as a financial man that Lawwell is, you can bet for certainty that everything to do with transfers and wages for sure will be given the nod by Lawwell. Which is too much of a big job in my eyes that can influence what the manager gets/does on the pitch.

Edit: for the record, I don't think lawwell should have "returned" to a position of this magnitude, ever. I understand he "never really left" due to staying on as a director/board member for the whole European thing. But that actually was meant as a no involvement position.
His involvement again is a massive backwards step.
I get some people's thinking that he surely wouldn't screw over his son(when dealing with transfers), but the flip can be, would his son go against his dad? Mark gets reigned in, he could just move on.

That all said, it's happened now and short of a fan rebellion again (never going to happen, even the last one was half arsed and flittered to nothing at the first sign of the club pretending to take action to remove lawwell, who came back), it is what it is.
I'm willing to give him a chance in this new position. But I'm not holding my breath that he's gonna continue in the road of change we felt we was slowly going down with Ange.

    So....

    :56:

All was Rosey while he wasn't in the top seat.
He returns to another high ranking seat at the table, the manager is for the off.

Big summer for lawwell, lawwell, Desmond and Nicholson.
They need to get a modern, progressive footballing manager in the door pronto and afford him the rumoured £30m Ange was to be given (along with continued investment in facilities and the likes).

For me, anything less and we should most certainly be asking questions about his involvement.

Ange would've left regardless of Lawwell.

Lawell gives me the absolute fear when he's involved in anything. This * had lost us countless players and he was happy to gamble the 10iar season that we were too far ahead of the huns and that's unforgivable for me.

He better no be involved in this process at all but fear he will be.

He's the type of * walks into a shop and offers a fiver for something for sale at £20

    Would he?

We are rumoured to have offered him a bih summer, but did we really?

He's had previous of * off managers and renegading on his word etc.

Time will tell during this summer, with the direction and investment we make in to the next manager and the club

I enjoy a good Lawwell bashing session as much as the next person but I really don't see how we can pin this on the board let alone Lawwell. If anything you could almost feel sorry for the board as it looks like Ange has left them high and dry as well. The only thing you could potentially level at the board is not getting a DoF in place

Aye he basically did everything and tbf he did it well but you could argue that it shouldn't have been his decision to make as now he's gone we're basically back to square one

Don't like him being at the club, but to try and put the charges at his heated driveway door is mental.

He isn't the CEO anymore so if you want someone to blame look at the current holder of the role.

    To be fair, this.

I'm just getting it down on record nice and early - he's for the * watching.

    * been an issue for us for decades, I don't believe he's changed much since.

From the outside, face value and all that, it looks like we've been shafted by Ange and his agent in all of this.

But there is previous from lawwell to * off managers and make them look elsewhere.
I'd be less surprised to find out he's been a * with Ange, than Ange done the dirty - albeit on the face of it, it is Ange this time.

Which is a worry actually for us, that we didn't learn from Rodgers and we allowed ourselves to be blinded by a good story yet again.

We need that sort of director of football at the club.

When if that's * Mark Lawwell of all people. Just to get that continuity and keep the system rolling.

I do get that he isn't the CEO, but he is still in a position of power and control.
We all wanted rid of bankier for these same reasons, it's his job he's got.

Lawell is still a problem Lenny left the first time cause he wouldn't back him .then the same with Rodgers wouldn't back him.now Ange is gone I fear it's back to the cheap option for manager again .shouldn't be anywhere near our board. He's had his time I thank him for the good he did but never forgive him and the board for losing 10iar. And they did .forward not back.and we must get fan ownership into this club. asap.its the least our fans deserve.the least.best fans in the world but treated like scum by the board. Wasn't that long when the barricades were up * them.HH
