This is a very good post IMO.

It's actually very hard to get players of the quality we want to come here without the carrot of CL football. I don't think anyone is gambling and I don't think DD would be hesitate for 1 second to replace Lawwell if he wasn't doing a job. I trust Lawwell and Brendan to get the players we need.

That last sentence is totally right.

Regarding Europe, I actually agree about the flares and haven't made up my mind yet about the worth of "* Uefa!" banners (my heart says yes, they are worth it and my head says no); but where politics is concerned, I think allowing a corrupt and hypocritical organisation to "Hibbify" us would harm the club a lot, lot more than even a hypothetical full stadium ban (bad though that would be). Nothing wrong with Hibs, they're a nice wee club; but they aren't Celtic.

I genuinely find the worldview behind posts like this really puzzling, mate. I'm not having a go, mate; I just don't understand where this artificial distinction between supporting the team and the political side of Celtic is coming from. It's all supporting Celtic, mate. As I said in an earlier post on a different thread, last season's highlights include an unbeaten treble (team on the park), the Lisbon celebrations (supporting the team on the park), 'Match the Fine for Palestine (political) and food bank collections (charity). It's all Celtic.

People need to think about this:

It's no accident that the most passionate fans in terms of creating an atmosphere and backing the team are also among the most active politically, socially and in terms of charity.

I don't see a problem with his wage going up at a time when we were having to cut back on the playing side TBH. I actually think it's much harder to run us successfully now than it was back in 2004.

I do have a problem with the board being allowed to continually refuse to pay a living wage while their salaries go up; but that's another debate for another thread. I kind of agree with Padmill on this: if Lawwell weren't worth it (I mean in purely business terms, mate), I'm pretty sure Desmond would boot him to * pretty * smartish TBH.

Of course he is ffs, he's a Celtic supporter making millions by trying to do his best for Celtic!

Like I say, it really is impossible to even comment with any basis in regards to his wages unless you actually delve into them on a yearly basis, which I really cannot be * bothered to do in all honesty.

Well, I think there's always an element of that TBH. Who you know has always been at least as important as what you know; but I think it is fairly clear that Lawwell is a genuinely skilled businessman as well as part of probably a good number of influential cliques (like any successful person).

DD and Lawell may have cliques, but they are nothing more then professional acquaintances, DD is a billionaire for a reason, the moment he sees his bank account dwindling or his assets shrinking you bet he'll be standing axe in hand ready to take off some heads.

FFS just look at the man's moustache!.

I know that's my point, they all look out for one another and we are just the customers.

Not a chance this * is a Celtic supporter. Many of the decisions he has been responsible for directly contradict the founding values of the club.

In addition, the way he has treated the supporters at various times throughout his tenure is nothing short of disgraceful.

Don't even get me started on that wee * Bankier. * weasel that he is. Also, no Tory peer should be part of any decision making process at this club, nor be anywhere near the payroll.

Unfortunately that's what football clubs are these days, in fact they always have been, the main difference now is that there's so much money to be made from football that it highlights that fact far more than it did 20 years ago.

He is a Celtic supporter, in fact he was at Celtic in 1990 long before he became the CEO and has turned down more lucrative jobs to stay at Celtic. His son Mark is also a Celtic fan.

    Bankier is a * though.

Lawwell's the type of * that promises to take you for a 5 guys, then goes "actually we'll go to burger king its just the same thing".

Then he takes you to the costco food court where he makes you share a hotdog with your wee brother. Before buying himself a new 4K tv and a full size snooker table, and making you carry them to the motor.

Pure going like that the whole time, "what you moaning for i told you i'd buy you your lunch didn't i".

A * joke. Biggest two games in our season and we haven't brought in one player that improves the first team

Crossed my mind mate but I don't think he improves the first 11. Different types of players but think Rogic and Armstrong are better with Brown Ntcham does look quite good so far though :50:

Think Ntcham is going to be streets ahead of most at the end of the season, similar to what people were saying about Dembele at this stage last season.

Not at all people were saying Dembeke didn't look that great. I'm saying Ntcham looks good so far but not as good as the 3 mentioned. I think Ntcham will be good for us. You happy with our preparation for these two games then?

Go back to the start of his thread last year, was hilarious. Amido Balde mark 2 apparently.

I think we've been extremely unlucky with our preparation. I've got enough of a high opinion of Rodgers that I believe we are doing everything we can. BR's stated he's in charge now, Desmond has already went over Lawwell's head with the appointment of BR in the first place.

I don't think the blame lays at his door on this occasion.
