Remember people used to think things wouldn’t be different unless Desmond was out the door and the Lawwell was simply following orders :56:.

Funny how it’s been nothing like how things used to run when he has been away, and as far as I’m aware, Desmond is still here. I remember folk used to argue the case for Lawwell staying by simply saying “who else could do better.” :56:

Watch the propaganda ramp up over the coming weeks.

Strachan will be in the papers reciting the old story of Peter ‘Celtic’ Lawwell knocking back Arsenal in 2008.

The go-to bloggers will be telling tales again of how he tried to physically attack Rodgers when he heard he was going to Leicester.

Already the Twitter brigade who defended him post-Rodgers are claiming he never left and we’ll continue as we have done since Ange began.

The Arsenal thing always makes me laugh. He knocked back Arsenal because he had the easiest job in Britain for the money he was on at that point.

It’s nowhere near over the top. He is a rat. Never mind, a couple of jokes about the huns and all will be good.

I can't believe Lawwell has torn down everything we've been building the last 18 months and forced Ange out of the club in less than a day, what a * workrate this guy has.

He's obviously seen that we're selling Giakoumakis and Juranovic and he's wormed his way in so that he can pocket a wedge of that transfer cash as a "consultancy fee".

Don't be surprised to see an extension get flung onto the side of Casa di Lawwell in the new year.

    Agree with the second part.

For the first part, it definitely is through the back door unless we have different understandings of that expression (which is possible :D).

The fact there has been a public statement doesn't change that it's clearly been a back-door appointment. (Although one could argue they've had him in the role in all but name without publicly announcing it for some time, but I digress).

They've announced a blatantly unpopular decision which everyone (including them) knows shouldn't be happening during a winter World Cup when engagement is low, while we're 9 points clear and things are going exceptionally well. It couldn't be more "through the back door". Wasn't the AGM was only a few weeks ago?

I know supporters don't have any say in the Chairman. That's obviously true for every single position at the club. While they never need to listen to the supporters, it doesn't make it any less of a "* you" when they choose to ignore such a strong opinion.

    -----
    Generally..

There's a lot of people calling for calm which I don't really understand because I don't see any hysterics.

All I see is people disillusioned with an obviously dodgy and unnecessary decision - a continuation of the plague of cronyism which has taken hold of the club. We watched it grow as we became comfortable with success and it led to stagnation and the Lennon season.

Lawwell may or may not become increasingly more involved in the running of the club but to speculate he might is hardly wild based on everything we know about him.

I'm not calling for revolution or doom-mongering. I'm just saying when you see an obviously bad decision at Celtic or an instance of cronyism, we don't need to make excuses or hand wave it away as, "Well he probably won't have much involvement".

It's a decision. It's wrong. It's cronyism. Call it that and keep it in mind for the future. Don't "meh" or excuse it just so we can keep the "everything's sunshine" feeling going around. Things like this lead to Lennon in the showers.

    No, it hasn’t.

It’s no coincidence that players are suddenly knocking back contract offers, deals appear to be lagging, and key men are being hawked about.

As I said, the indicator has been cancelled and we’re very much set for the slow lane.
