    Guys a *.

    Just getting that in there.

Interesting that his part in the club communication today was 2 paragraphs, short and sweet - well bitter actually.
Not much said by him, certainly not much said in regards to Ange being part of a modernisation of the club.

Dom and Ange repeatedly said that.
Even Bankier (another *) managed to say they will give ANge every support for this season and the future.

Sooner this guys away from the club the better for us all.
Desmond is an utter * of a guy as well, but for me it still seems to be Lawwell that is truly holding us back.

So, he's not "away" after all. I genuinely feel for McKay, the shadow of his predecessor looms large.

NEIL LENNON hailed departing Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell — describing him as a ‘massively influential figure’ in the club’s history.

Lennon was player, coach and manager twice during Lawwell’s 17-year stint at the Parkhead helm.

No one is better placed than the Northern Irishman to discuss the Hoops era of the man who rose to be regarded by many as the most powerful figure in Scottish football.

Lennon, who left the manager’s job in February, told SunSport: “Peter’s legacy is a period of incredible success for Celtic.

The club was also very strong financially.

“Dominic McKay has a very hard act to follow and I wish him well.

Peter’s time as chief executive should never be forgotten.

“I believe history will judge him well.

The job he has done for Celtic is phenomenal.

“It deeply saddened me the level of criticism Peter suffered last season.

"He didn’t deserve that. All he’s ever wanted is the best for Celtic.

“Peter felt the same sense of acute disappointment as any other supporter over how the season unfolded. It hurt him, believe me.

“But he should be regarded as a massively influential figure for Celtic in the modern era.”

Former Scottish Rugby Union chief McKay formally replaces Lawwell following several months of being shown the ropes.

With Lawwell running the show, Celtic enjoyed astonishing success on and off the park.

Thirteen titles — including nine in a row — plus 16 cups and an unprecedented quadruple Treble were all achieved under his watch.

There were also three qualifications for the Champions League’s last 16.

Celts’ finances reached unparalleled levels, with a record £101.6million in revenue announced in 2018.

Huge transfer fees were also gained through tough negotiator Lawwell.

A record £25m for Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, an eventual £20m for Virgil van Dijk from Southampton through down-payment and sell-on, nearly £20m for Moussa Dembele from Lyon and £12.5m for Victor Wanyama, also from Saints.

Martin O’Neill, Gordon Strachan, Tony Mowbray, Lennon, from 2010-14 and 2019-21, Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers were the managers during Lawwell’s reign.

He was also heavily involved in the pursuit and hiring of new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Last season’s spectacular failure, finishing 25 points behind Rangers in the ill-fated quest for ten in a row and no trophy for the first time in 11 years, sparked fans’ fury against Lawwell.

There was also bitter controversy over his sanctioning of the squad’s January trip to Dubai at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Worse still, Lawwell and his family endured the horror of their Glasgow home being set on fire by a masked hoodlum while they slept.

The 62-year-old is set to remain an advisor to the Hoops board over the next two years, while retaining a role with the powerful European Club Association.

Lennon will only ever regard Lawwell as a tremendous ally and close friend.

He added: “I’ve known Peter a long time and, with Dermot Desmond, I will never forget his incredible support for me as manager and on a personal level.

“It was an honour to be manager of Celtic for two spells and I’ll always be proud of everything I achieved.

Throughout my time at the club, including as a player and a coach, I had fantastic backing from Peter. I couldn’t have wished for a better person to turn to for advice.

“Every trophy success was also for Peter and Dermot. It was my way of repaying their faith in me.

“I also had difficult personal moments while at Celtic and they were always there for me.

“Peter deserves to be held in the highest regard for what he did for the club.”

I knew months ago it was too good to be true and he will remain in the building doing his best to interfere in football matters like he's done in the past .
The club is still a bit stagnant with lawwell and his side kicks Kennedy and Strachan still there also and it's going to take more than a new CEO and manager to move the club forward and just wish Desmond would * off as he also been too long at the club and need a new leader with fresh ideas and be ambitious .

Lawwell is slagging Lennon, or Lennon is slagging Lawwell?

Whatever the need for a connection to the club for the next two years due to the ECA thing, he is NOT in a position of authority any more.

He should NOT been heard or seen now. McKay, you would do well never to call him up for advice. The vast majority of fans would rather see you try something different and fail, than tell us you * up by following this greedy * advice.

Good * riddance that the * is gone now!

As for Lennon, barely got through the first few lines of that article, load of *.
Lennon, the only * player from the 1999-2003 era that still lingers on to this club and speaks of the * in glowing terms.
No wonder since he managed to hold on to a good deal til 2007 and was the only one remaining from the pre-Lawwell days that wasn't being hounded out of the club. Then goes on to be paid a good wage as a coach, a manager, then seemingly conned his way in to a similar salary as Rodgers in the second stint.

Lennon owes the last 18 years of his life to Peter Lawwell.
No wonder the guy is constantly up his *.

Pretty sure Lennon left the club first time round because of the board. He is just trying to keep himself relevant by talking to any media outlet that will listen.

Lawwell has had the easiest ride you will ever have in Scottish football. We have been successful in spite of him though, not because of him. Taken us from European finalists to European cannon fodder.

He also was CEO when we went further in Europe than those European finalists 3 times.

I don't think this is fair.

In the 5 or so years that team was together they managed a UEFA cup final and a UEFA cup Quarter Final and in a Champions League group I'm sure they got 9 points at least once and still didn't qualify.

Going further 3 times in 15 or so years is hardly something to praise him for. Our failures during Lawwell's time almost certainly outweigh our success.

I don't think we've knocked out any teams directly in over a decade and frankly it's embarrassing how we now accept getting through qualifiers against teams with 10% our budget is seen as a huge success.

I know you're just stating a fact, but saying they got further 3 times in 15 attempts while not mention the years of abject failure is the CEO equivalent of Lennon saying he beat Lazio and Barcelona while being 0-2 down to Ross County on a 14 match winless run.

No doubt done some good but overall he was a * who's tight fistedness cost us umpteen players. You couldn't buy McGinn and Toney for 50mil+ now but we * about and both have come out and said they didn't feel wanted. Business could have been done early instead of negotiating over what in football terms is pennies.

Balance sheet over results. Wrote off 10iar as would have cost too much to change early doors.

He stayed longer than he should have bt he did turn around a 30-40m debt after the O'Neill era into 30-40m profit that we see in more recent times.
A great businessman but should have spent more, especially after Rodgers left

Two out the three times we went through on 9 points. The same as MON was knocked out with to be fair. In that time, we have also been knocked out in qualifiers by Artmedia Bratislava, Braga, Maribor, Malmö, Cluj, Ferenczvaros. We also completely missed out on Europe when we got scudded by Utrecht. He leaves us as a team that are not only no longer feared, but a team that clubs want to draw.

I’m not sticking up for his failures btw, just think that statements can downplay what we’ve also achieved whilst he’s been CEO.

Would you say getting to the last 16 of the champions league is better than getting to the UEFA Cup final? There’s more money in the champions league group stage for sure but the Seville run gets looked back on more.
