    Lennon signed Juarez, Bangura, Balde, Boerrigter, and Bolingoli that wasted millions in transfer fees and wages. I don't care much for Rodgers but let's not pretend that Lennon isn't equally guilty of wasting money on poor players.

    He did certainly sign some duds but they're not "equally guilty"

    Lennon signed the likes of Van Dijk, Wanyama, Forster, Hooper, Mulgrew, Commons, Rogic, Griffiths, Bitton, Lustig, Frimpong, Ledley.

    Of Rodgers 29 signings made during his tenure, only 1 still plays for us regularly in our starting XI; Édouard.

    Out of those 29 signings the only one we banked big cash for was Dembele; and he was already in the pipeline long before the rat's size 6 Burton brogues made it under the desk at Lennoxtown.

    By every single measurable metric Lennon has had far more transfer success than the rat ever did: Longevity of signings, profit made from incomings & outgoings.

    Rodgers signed 27 players while he was manager here. Only two so far have made us a profit; Dembele (who by all accounts was on Deila’s radar) and Morgan (only because he was signed for a pittance due to his contract expiring). Granted, Edouard will be added to that list and likely Ntcham, but even at that 4 out of 27 is a very poor return given our transfer model. When you add in the fact that Eddy, Ntcham and Bain are the only three of those 27 who are currently members of our first team squad, it really highlights just how poor recruitment was during that period.

    Yes, Lennon’s recruitment had a fair few hiccups during his first spell in charge, but the fact he signed Virgil, Wanyama, Forster and Hooper for a combined £7.9m and sold them for well in excess of £40m (+ huge add ons) (and that’s not including various less significant profits he also made on players he bought), he certainly came out winning. That’s not even adding into the equation that he signed Griffiths, Bitton, Rogic, Lustig, Ledley, Mulgrew, Stokes, Izzy and Commons for less than £4m combined (which is frighteningly less than half of what Rodgers spent on Bayo, Eboue, Hendry, Compper and Gamboa).

    There are actually the same number of players in our current first team squad who were signed by Lennon in his first stint as signed by Rodgers (3), which is quite crazy. So, for me, there’s really no debate as to who was more successful and wasted less money in the transfer market.

    Lennon understand and appreciates the money he gets ...... Rodgers for how smart the man is thought their was an endless pot of gold and it showed in half the target that fool congerton came out with ..... Castagne for one was never gonna happen if Celtic are to spend upward of 6 or seven million they would want a loan first

    Probably closer to £2.5m but pittance really, he also got in a loan to give Jeremie time. He had to rebuild a defence left it tatters by Rodgers after he found no replacement for Boyata, Lustig or a back up for Tierney. Two attempts at replacing Gordon, while I like Bain he isn't as good as we need.

    @littlekennie was right, £1.9m for the 2.

    (£1.6m for Elhamed, £300k for Frimpong)

    There's a possibility of it rising another £700k if certain clauses are met with Frimpong, I believe.

    Not for this, not PL fault at all.
    Well actually it is for hiring Lennon, but I assume Thomo isn't putting the boot in to Lennon here?

    Ah yes, I too blame Lawell after spending 15 million and keeping all our star players. If theres anything to blame Lawell for its appointing Lennon.

    * laughable to blame the board for today. Even with the injuries we have we still had more than enough to get a result. Yet again the manager got his team, formation and tactics wrong ... again

    Yep , all the cash we have spent and quite a lot of the wage bill but pistol is the blame for a formation and team selection everyone knew was gonna be below par.
