Apologies, I worded that wrongly. I meant that that basically is the choice. Should have made that clearer.

I don't think anyone is debating his track record as far as success goes, it's other aspects of his leadership being called into question.

    Voted yes.

The recent treatment of fans is nothing short of disgraceful.

If this is to keep happening, our club is * dead.

I take it no one stops to ask themselves who Lawwell answers to? Who gives him his orders?

    He isn't the club owner.

No he is not - Desmond is HIS master.

Lawwell is on the front line though, so it's only fair he receives the level of flak he is now.

Perhaps a thread for Josef Fritzl is required also.

The point I'm trying to make is if Lawwell announced he was * off to Manchester City tomorrow, who would be responsible for choosing his replacement? The fans? Of course not.

The guy who would be choosing his replacement is the same guy who has given the green light for everything that has come to pass of late, be it limited investment in the team, stricter controls on fans and so on.

The removal of Lawwell wouldn't see a change in the direction the club is going down, because the owner is calling the shots, and he's going nowhere.

I know Lawwell has a boss mate, I'm not so naive to think otherwise.

What I will say though is that, regardless of Lawwell being in an under-position at the top of the Celtic heirarchy, you can * bet your balls that the * has being playing a huge part in the "transition" of the club to the way it is heading. He isn't simply Desmond's minion, as seen by the influence the man is having on Scottish fitba.

I know you do, but I'm not so sure that a lot of others understand that.

    Definitely.

He's fully behind everything he's currently doing, but even with his removal we are never going to see someone brought in who will challenge the Scottish Government and the police.

    Not a * chance.

I fully agree with Devlin's POV on this matter. Even as someone who I would class as a "war criminal", at least John Reid was an absolute * pitbull who I'm sure would have the balls to challenge.

That being said, I have to agree with you too. We are now too far gone to overturn the train of thought now.

Celtic Football Club as you/I/we knew it has gone.

Indeed. There's a small part of me that's happy that I'm in a different country watching games on CelticTV & Sky to be honest :54:

Why put x3 last 16's in with lawell and not put in better Euro performances from the 70's up to 1980 for Semi finals, quarter final, all better than the last 16 of a cup. Also the league from about 1993 has been poor, in the 70's and 80's other clubs either won the league or came very close this can't be said of clubs from about 93 to present. You can spine any data mate

Lazy excuse, turn it to the hun debate, the issues at Celtic have nothing to do with that shower mate.

The problem with Lawwell is that whilst he's obviously very good at the job he does for the club, he's very often been a PR disaster.

Even some of his remarks about Rangers that a lot of people on this board thought were hilarious I found to be cringeworthy. There's no need to even mention them when talking about our club.

In an ideal world we'd see Lawwell step back and be allowed to concentrate on what he's good at, and a director of football come in for football-related matters.

In the past I'd questioned the need for someone in such a role, but I really think we need someone in such a position now, who can handle the problems that we undoubtedly have with the authorities.
