Cut out the Spam/Off topic posting and get back to a sensible debate about the game.

I was at the game last night, with the Western Sydney CSC. Part of the problem was that, except for the Celtic end, who were vocal and encouraging all the way through, the ground looked a bit deserted. There was a disappointing crowd of around 20 000 in a stadium with a capacity of 80 000. There was clearly an experimental approach to the game. Mark Wilson played LB all game, the new CB looked the goods, big and capable, and Loovens went ok, except for the lapse that allowed the goal. I think it was young Towell who played RB all game (it was hard to tell, as he wasn't included in the program), and he played quite well; Lenny had him linking up with Forrest, and they showed glimpses of potential.

The problem was, Celtic tried hard, but it was clearly their first run together for some time. All of their attack was down the wings, and they had little penetration or coordination through the centre. It was frustrating to watch. Also, the Central Coast side were really up for it. They're not a team of mugs. They qualified for the Asian Champions League last season by being the beaten team in the grand final. Let's hope there's a better atmosphere at Perth and Melbourne. I'm sure there will be, as I think they're both sold out, and the stadiums are better suited to football. At the ANZ Stadium you're too far away from the action, and when it's three parts empty you can hear someone opening a packet of crisps from ten rows away. By the time the team gets to Melbourne, they'll be starting to warm up into what we expect from a real Celtic team.

The next two games won't be 'friendlies', by the way. Both the Perth and Melbourne teams will be taking this seriously', and will want to beat us if they can. Assistant coach at Melbourne is former Rangers player Kevin Muscat. He'll want this badly.

How that * got a job in football beyond playing (and even at that) is beyond me. Some people like nasty men in their set-up?

Muscat was never a footballer, he was an absolute thug. Just be grateful that he is not going to be on the pitch, where he could potentially do a hatchet job on one of the Bhoys. Perth also have a rather nasty ghost of Huns past in their coaching staff.

On paper at least, the Mariners was always going to be the toughest of the 3 games.

I know what you mean. The final act in his playing career at Melbourne last season was to nearly cripple a promising young opponent with a kung fu style 'tackle' that ended up with the young bloke catapulting through the air and landing on his neck. Muscat was red carded, and snarled and spat his way off the pitch. Later, in the media, he had the gall to claim that the tackle was not intentional, and was a result of slowing reflexes, and that maybe it was time to finish his playing career. One of the nastiest characters to have ever played the game.

Perth Glory i wonder if they can hit a ball. Expect a 0-4 minimum for this match. Is it on the screen?
