Where you specifically said about he's not a 19 year old boy. So that's connotations of saying he's old. Just because you never used the word doesn't mean you never meant it. 22 is still a young developing player.

So, I didn't say 22 was old? We've established that, right?

So you've been proven wrong and now your being pathetic and arguing? I'm afraid Mr lawell you'll not be fooling us with your pish. Now pay up and sign us portugals under21 captain. Some signing that.

I've been proven that I said something that I didn't actually say? I think you're the one being pathetic when you cannot grasp what I was actually saying in my initial comment.

    Aye, completely agree.

Only thing I will say though is that we're highly unlikely to discover another Hatate or O’Riley in the next window because we clearly don't have a scouting plan. Haven't for a long time. Ange's successful recruits were all down to him.

The two Norwegian lads would be superb signings but because of our unwillingness to spend money, we won't buy them even if we're interested.

I absolutely agree. I don't think we will sign a Hatate or O'Riley for the sort of prices we found them for. We have absolutely strung up MK Dons and Kawasaki. I do think we could find a Hatate or O'Riley for £5m-£6m, though. That's where I kinda have my issues with Bernardo. He just doesn't do enough for me and we seem to have a couple of midfielders in the team at the minute who are similar age and are likely to develop at a similar rate, in Kelly and Holm. So, do we spend £6m on a player who will have as much, if not less, potential growth than the two younger midfielders? I just don't think it's a good deal for us in the whole.

There is also the elephant in the room with regards to Millar from Motherwell and Watson from Kilmarnock. I'd rather spend the £6m on they 2, loan them out for a couple of seasons and bring them back into the fold when they have more experience. Seems to be a genuine snobbery about certain Scottish talent and they two really are some of the most talented we have seen in years, especially at 17 and 18 years old. I'd actually be up for maybe keeping Millar in and around the squad because I genuinely think he could play some games for us and influence games as much as Bernardo has.

Agree with the scouting issues, also. We should be doing everything we can to bring in the very best talent spotters around. Who is the recruitment team from Bodo or USG. Teams who seem to consistently buy ridiculous talent for dirt cheap. We should be doing everything we can to actively purchase the talent spotters from these clubs.

That he's not 19 years old and his potential, in terms of footballing ability isn't as large as some people make out. I clearly mentioned that I think he could improve. I think it's clear that someone who is 18/19 is going to improve far more than someone at 22, no?

Would you not agree that Lennon Millar, at 17 years old or David Watson, at 18 years old have far more potential and a far higher ceiling that Bernardo, at 22?

All that aside, I never once mentioned he was old. Which was a ridiculous statement to make.

Interestingly there is probably an argument that targeting guys around 22-25 that were once touted as big prospects had to go down a level and now producing solid form is an untapped market that we could be better placed targeting than the really young which has become a very competitive market.

Kuhn fits that profile but there are a lot of guys out there that would be a decent pick up for us that fit that criteria.

On Bernardo it will likely be down to Rodgers, when he speaks about him he seems to like him. Talks well about his attitude and ability to learn. For me I am a bit split on him, he shows flashes of some really good attributes but then has long spells of being ineffective in an attacking sense within games. Goals like what he got at Livi or the ones at Dundee and on the early round of the cup, getting beyond the centre forward is what I would like to see more off from him.

You want us to forward plan? What planet are you on? Give the intergalactic coordinates to Celtic so you can chat to the about it?

Been banging the drum for ages about us taking scouts from those clubs that have produced decent talent over the years at a fraction of the budget we have. No reason why we couldn't attract them

Tbh I can't see a reason why we realistically can't buy Bernardo (if he does turn it on in the last few games of the season), Miller and Watson. We have the money. If we actually planned for the future, it'd be great business.

Good when he came on, done well for the assist. Would’ve preferred him to come on earlier though instead of Mcgregor. Would also have him start ahead of Iwata against the Huns, hearts or maybe killie

Definitely a player for bigger games. Seems to go missing in the smaller fixtures.

He’s a confidence player, two times we’ve seen him at his best a wee run was when he got his goal against Dundee, dominated for 5/6 games, then missed a couple big chances and head went down.

He went away with Portugal u21’s got a goal, came back confident came on last week played well scores, then continued showing that today when he came on and made a big difference for what should have been a winner. When the confidence goes out him, he plays within himself and keeps everything tidy doesn’t take chances and just works and occupies spaces. He has the ability to do it in big games, he’s had 2 against them when he’s also got the confidence and he’s a different player with his tail up, hope he keeps that in him for the run in.

He should of been on before McGregor really, looking really sharp and can obviously raise his game when needed.

My issue with him now is it looks like the type of player you’d play in Europe and against the Huns but is a waste of a jersey for the most part domestically where we don’t really need his industry as much.

Said it in the Daizen thread, has to start against the huns for me. His pressing and work rate is the only that comes close to Maeda.

Since when is Bernardo a pressing midfielder? Just because he's more mobile than O'Riley, it doesn't mean he's a pressing midfielder. Nobody comes close to Maeda when it comes to work rate. If we want an industrious midfielder to compensate for Maeda's absence, that's Iwata.
