He's probably the most average player we've had in a long while.

Not terrible, not even bad, but just consistently average, almost every game of his is a 6/10 performance.

If he costs less than £4 million, I could see us signing him as we're likely losing both Hatate and O'Riley this summer, but otherwise I'd be looking elsewhere.

I personally thought BR was too hasty in taking him off. Not because he'd done anything of note but I didn't feel there was a need to fatally weaken the midfield at such an early stage. Celtic playing 10 vs 11 against Man City or Real Madrid is one thing but against Hearts it shouldn't be a total game-changer. Keep the back 4 and mid 3 and then use Idah as CF with a player just off him or alternating on different wings. That said, whatever you do needs to be backed by work-rate and effort neither of which were in much evidence once Yang departed. We just sat-off and let them come on to us and I doubt we won a 50-50 challenge in all that time.

For me, the most disappointing thing about Rodgers since returning has been his ability (or lack of) to make decisions to turn games in our favour. Felt it was a strength of his when he was first here but I can’t think of a time this season where a sub or a tweak to the formation at a crucial time in the game has actually helped us.

If Kyogo was to come on it shouldn’t have been for Bernardo imo. We were never going to take control of that game with the ten we had out second half.

 

He has shown flashes of being a good player.

I feel like he's unfortunate that it's Brendan Rodgers in charge. We've went from sugar to * under him. Quite a few big hitters in our team look bang average this season.

If Rodgers * off maybe guys like Bernardo would flourish.

 

I hope with O’Riley inevitably leaving in the summer that we activate the buy option for paulo. I think he’s a very good player tbh yes he lacks pace and him and O’Riley are very similar but with O’Riley gone think he will take his place fairly well. We know what we’re getting and he’s shown he can press and retain the ball well at CL level also. For anything between 4-6m I think would be a good deal. Would like us to bring in another dynamic cm aswell but I think he’s a very tidy player in the middle

Had that "I just scored a belter against the huns" bounce that some players can have.

Now he's back to what he normally produces - very little.

Tidy enough footballer, but not enough of a goal threat or aggressive enough in the midfield to * £6m on him.

Think of it this way, if we signed a midfielder at £6m and Bernardo showed up, would you be happy?

No chance.

 

If he had that sustained period where he looked quality for 4 games then fair enough..

But even for a goalscoring midfielder he missses loads of sitters..
