Feel like I'm always working in the games he starts in so can't really pass comment on his individual performances.

Will say I thought he would've cemented his place in the team by now. Always seems to make a positive impact from the bench

 

I don't think he was terrible last night but seems to be a nearly player for us. Nearly great, nearly consistent. However he doesn't seem to do enough at times. Lacks a bit of pace and should really have buried that header last night.

 

Like most of our midfield, very lightweight physically and struggles in heat of the battle, overly tentative and can look almost scared at times.
He's fine and a very good technician when we are running the game, but when not, he really struggles.

 

See I don't agree with that, he can be physical and can be excellent picking up 2nd balls..

Just wasn't on it, same as good few of them recently tbh..

 

Not up to his usual standard last night, on form he is very good.

 

Game changed when he came on, tempo noticeably went up, links well with Kuhn, much better player than Engels in my opinion, would be ahead of him in the pecking order if I was selecting the team and should be starting midweek

 

McCowan and Hatate are bigger goal threats than Engels from open play, would trust them to chip in with a goal in the final third before Engels

 

Just wish he would kick on from the good performances he puts in, but seems to slip back into being nothing more than acceptable. Needs to be showing more and nail down a starting 11 place. Frustrating player at times, looks very capable but doesn’t do enough.

 

100%. It’s almost as if he puts in two or three great performances to prove a point and then gets comfortable and loses a bit of intensity. Still very young though, so that should come.

 

I think he is over rated by large sections of our support.

 

Think this is reactive as *. Engels has been absolutely excellent the last 6 weeks ,had an off night for sure .

 

Lackadaisical and frustrating, no doubt he has ability but his appetite for the game is sometimes missing.

 

Agreed if kyogo had taken some of the chances Engels created opinion would be different

Bit concerned about Bernardo, thought he was quite poor again tonight. When he comes on I have no confidence he'll make any major impact.

Don't want to sound negative on an ultimately successful night, but I'd be a bit annoyed if I was McCowan.

 

Worked hard but poor, lacking confidence and looked very nervous

 

Sloppy as *, not for the first time by a long stretch .

 

Needs to work on his ball control and touch.

 

Thought he was * when he came on and think he started hiding, at one point he noticeably ran away from the ball and pointed for it to be passed elsewhere when there were already limited options, instead of demanding it himself. Did make one good intervention to stop them breaking too tho.

 

Hes really not been good enough all season to be honest. Hes got away with it because we win mostly domestically whether he plays well or not. But the last few weeks in particular hes been miles off the level I think should be expected. Im not a fan I must say. Hatate and McGregor have tended to take the flack when the midfield has misfired this year. Hatate has had large spells out of form admittedly this season but Bernardo for me has been the biggest culprit of all.
