    paul caddis signs contract extension

    Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that Paul Caddis, has agreed a new one-year contract extension with the club. The young defender has made 15 appearances for Celtic and is currently captain of the Scottish Under-21 team.

    Paul said: “I'm very pleased to agree this new contract with the club. I have really enjoyed my time so far at Celtic and have been fortunate to make a number of appearances already in the first team.

    “This is now something I want to build on and I'm committed to doing all I can to work hard and ensure that I can feature more and more.”

    Celtic manager Tony Mowbray said: “Paul is a young player who has great ability and great character.

    “He is someone who I know has all that is required to have a very good future in the game and and we look forward to working with him to ensure that we give him every opportunity to achieve his potential.”


    This is great news for Celtic, in my view Caddis has the potential to be top class full back. He is definitely going to be Scotland right back for years to come.:50:

    Good. If a good offer comes in for Hinkel I would have no hesitations putting Caddis in, I think he is the classic Celtic-style full-back.

    Anyone else surprised by this? I was certain he'd be leaving. He does look a good wee player but he's not getting into the team ahead of Hinkel for the forseeable future.

    Brilliant ,he is a fantastic player and i thought he was on his way out after his interview a few weeks back ,like a new signing and although he could do the job just now im sure he is one for the future ,glad Celtic seen the bigger picture on this.

    only one year? thats *! this will happen again when his contract starts to wind down wether or not he wants to sign another contract or move away? but i suppose 1 year is better than hee haw i suppose.

    worst player to ever don the hoops.....nah! Just playing, great to see caddis signed an extension I was real fearful we'd lose him sooner. It's just a year, but at least its something. Good bit of business because we have both a maturing prospect (nearly ready to be a full time player) and a contract so if he wants away we can make some money

    Imo him only signing a one year deal is more a case of celtic covering themselves against him leaving for free in the summer but i would like to see him stay for longer as he has shown he is a great young player being kept out of the team only by the form of a german international in hinkel.

    Not good enough to play right back for Dundee United and not good enough to play there for us either for me. He'll end up playing for another SPL side in a couple of seasons, probably as a right winger where he has looked the part at times.
