    Roberts, all day long.

He has the ability to produce some absolute magic.

Whilst with Forrest, he can be effective but nothing out of this world.

    That is true.
That miss by Roberts against them was truly appalling and it may still be preying on his mind. I mean how could you miss that ?
For that reason, and the fact Forrest is red hot now, I would start Forrest no doubt.

Roberts minus his miss in the semi final, was the only player capable of going past players and did it with ease.

He actually had a good game otherwise from the sitter.

    'How could you miss that'?

So you haven't seen great players miss sitters before then? I can remember Larsson missing an absolute sitter at home against Valencia before, he had a poor game by his high standards but still scored a goal because that what great players do, they get over big missed chances. Just as Roberts did in the games after Sevco against Hearts home and away and Aberdeen at home.

Forrest is not on 'red hot form at all'. He was subbed at halftime for an invisible performance against Be'er Sheeva and then was at fault for the first goal we conceded against Aberdeen before he made amends and scored to put us back ahead.

Look at what Roberts brought to the side those last 30 mins in comparison to what Forrest brought those first 60 mins. The gap in quality between both players is at a scary level of difference.

We need to use Roberts for every second that he's here and that means if he is fully fit (Which by all accounts he is) then he starts on Saturday. Which I'm sure Rodgers will do because he knows who is the better player.

This defines the irony of your constant * directed at Leigh Griffiths game in and game out.

That because Griffiths constantly misses big chances game in, game out.

Great players only miss big chances rarely, not near enough every game.

But I'm not getting into this again.

I am not buying this often repeated mantra I hear all the time that Roberts is a better player than Forrest. It may be true but on the other hand it might not be true. There is no scary gap in quality between the two, that is definitely a home spun fantasy consigned to yourself, a figment of your own vivid imagination.
The critical gap that does exist between the two is experience, and Forrest has tons more experience at this level than Roberts.

No goals or assists, compared to Forrest's goal? :icon_mrgreen:

We all know Roberts is a better player than Forrest, but Jamesy has scored 3 in 3 and is playing well.

I would start Roberts, but wouldn't be overly fussed if it's Jamesy that gets the nod.

I'm just pleased that Forrest's form has improved so much that it is actually a debate..

Forrest has vast more experience than Roberts in Europe I'm sure you'll agree.

Yet in a game away against Astana Roberts was just about our best player and the guy we looked to time and again to make things happen.

Then injury occurs and the 'experienced' Forrest takes his place on the right hand side. We play Be'er Sheeva away where this time with Roberts injured we look to Forrest on that side to make things happen. Where was he? Oh yeah that's right invisible and dreadful all half and then rightfully hooked at halftime. Yeah I can really see where his experience mattered there in comparison to Roberts lack of at that level.

If you really think that Forrest is a better player than Roberts then there really is no point in debating any further because that is just complete madness to have such and opinion.

Who do you want to start the CL games between the two on the right hand side of attack? We all know the answer. Roberts is a far bigger goal threat than Forrest as well.

After the performance Forrest put in against Be'er Sheeva I think Roberts has earned the right to reclaim his spot back.
It's not though, when both fit there's only one starter (Which is Roberts).

Your slip is showing, I mean your inexperience.
But before I go any further, I will take the time to commend your ability to continue posting despite coming under a barrage of criticism, I like that in a poster :smiley-laughing002:
I do find it amusing when I find myself in the current position of defending James Forrest, considering I have been an arch critic of him in the past, but he has proved his value and goal threat under Rodger's tutelage.
If Forrest starts and scores against Rangers, he will have made his mark with the Celtic support.

He may well do, but it'll be the wrong choice if Roberts is fully fit imo.

For the record anyway I don't think he will start Forrest.

I think Brendan has this team with a mind on playing Barca away, meaning I think Gamboa, De Vries and Roberts will start to get them ready for midweek. With perhaps Lustig and Forrest coming on for both to replace them respectively.

Scoring the last minute winning goal against Karagandy to send us into the CL Group Stages still hasn't made his mark with the Celtic support. I wouldn't hold my breath that a goal against Sevco will.

You are well informed, and I may have been a bit harsh with you in the past, nothing personal, just a bit of banter.:52:
With respect when a Celtic player finally breaks his duck in scoring against Rangers he comes of age.
Scoring against Karagandy dozen't figure that high on the Richter scale with Celtic fans, no matter how much gloss you put on it.

    Exactly.

Under normal circumstances, yes. But Forrest is in possession of the short and has scored against Hearts, St. Johnstone and Aberdeen. All arguably better teams than Rangers right now.

Roberts will be back in the team eventually.
