Strachan's track record with developing wingers is A+

Maloney and McGeady were both his pet projects and we all witnessed the enormous shift from both of them.

Leading clubs yes you are correct we can’t compete. Although we should be able to compete with second tier clubs of the likes of Ajax, Porto, and Benfica etc.etc for talent surely?

    mcCourt Signing

I reckon with the McCourt signing, Naka will be played more in the middle. I actually like the look of mcCourt. The only problem is he reminds me alot of petta. Petta had a good spell but was never consistant. It means we now have 4 wingers for 2 places. Naka,Mcgeady,McCourt and Mizuno. We still need a centre half, a goaly, a left back, a def mid and a striker.

We should get rid of Balde,Naylor,Killen,Sno and Riordan. I still think we have a great Squad!

Any suggestions on signings and news?

We can not play naka in the middle. He is too soft. We need hard players in the middle who can tackle and track back. Dont get me wrong naka is a good player but I have a feeling his oportunities may be limited next season. This season justt gone naka was inviscible for 80mins of each game. Yes he provided and scored a good number he just isn't in games enough for me.

As for mcCourt I think this season will be a bench season for him maybe the odd appearence due to injuries.

A striker and a centreback and left back must be our priorities.

I feel mcfadden may finally come to us. I think there is a claus in his contract about relegation

    fingers crossed

Dont think the Signing of McCourt, will make wgs move naka into the middle. the guy has been giving a chance by coming to celtic, hope it works out for him, but like Mazumo he will have to earn the right to be in the first 11.

Naka in the middle in the spl would not work for me.

we have depth, which is good, but the fringe players are exactly that, fringe players. Riordan hasn't had a chance and I believe the reason he doesn't get a game is lack of trying and doing what he's told. When the defenders lump the ball up the line, Strachan (like every other manager) wants his Strikers
to be running into the channels, Riordan just doesn't want to do it and I don't think he has the enthusiasm at Celtic anymore.

I'd love to see Naka play in the middle, the only problem with that is he's a luxury. He's played out wide as he's not expected to do that much tracking back, in the middle it would be different.

We've still not seen Mizuno so I wouldn't count him in a s challenger for a first team slot yet, same with McCourt. Would like to see a few more in. I'd take a couple more < £1m signings as long as we get a class CB.

All those teams either use homegrown talent like us or buy the best players from the leagues they play in, for instance Ajax bought 6 of their best first team players from the Eredivisie with 4 coming through the Ajax system and only Rommedahl who was bought from Championship side Charlton last year getting regular first team starts.

Point out a signing that Benfica have made that's bigger than what we have made in recent years, Porto naturally had a larger sway in the transfer market since 2005 after cheating their way to the CL which they'll no longer have since they've been outed.

What Strachan is doing is signing players he perceives could make an impact or improve the first team now or in the future, he is not competing to sign the biggest name, as that's not feasible for a team in a league like ours but in fact buying the best talent at the least amount of risk possible, which is exactly what Ajax have done.

    Hardly.

He was a nobody in Poland, just another goal keeper. He'd been farmed out and not expected to be that good. He's come to Celtic and we've created his reputation. He wouldn't be known around Europe if he wasn't at Celtic.

I see what you're saying, but it works both ways. We can bring players with little to no reputation and make them better players or bring in a big name. I'd like to see a big name, someone with Champions League experience for example. I don't think our CB's can cut it at that level. Our defense is our weak link and that's not a good weak link to have. Caldwell has to go, he's simply not good enough. McManus is too young to have the arm band. Wether or not he goes on to win more trophies as captain or not, I'll still think he was too young to have it.

Balde should have had the armband with McManus learning from him this season.

    -----------------

I'm liking the sound of a new European Coach though, might bring a new aspect to our game an possibly links to young foreign talent.

lol u couldnt have gotten his name any wronger its Mizuno :p

but Ive watched a few vids of McCourt and tbh i think he will tear the SPL apart as someone already stated Naka barely shows up anymore in games and this guys a Celtic fan who will be playing for the jersey and not the pay packet.

If he gets a game i think we wont be dissapointed.

He sounds like a player we can turn into something pretty good. People say he has bags of talent and stuff which is good.

Guys have come out and says he just needs an arm round him and encouragement etc. Well thats what EGS does isnt it? He likes to mould players doesnt he?

I heard he likes a drink. WGS has helped a few of our players with that kind of thing.

This could be good for us fellas. If it doesnt work out...so what?! If it does he'll be a decent player, if we sell him on we'll almost certainly make a profit (possibly a big one).

Im more concerned about the big name signings than the back door signings. It always seems to be the cheaper, unknown players who become stars for us!

BTW totally agree with the post above about Ajax. We should be lookin to follow that example and i think thats the way we are heading.

We have brilliant facilities, we are bringing in kids from all over. We just have to make sure the coaching is right.

Year after year Ajax rely on guys coming through and they make massive profit from them. And like the fella before said they get players who are proven in their domestic league. I think they signed a few guys from Gronigen last year? But they have the advantage of not needin work permits for south american and african players.

I am a massive fan of what Ajax do and would love to see us doing something fairly similar. The problem is we may have to sacrifice success on the pitch to reap the rewards later on.

PS. Apologies for going off topic
