    From earlier today

West Bromwich Albion have pulled out of a deal for Pat McCourt, with the Derry City winger now tipped to join Celtic.

The Premier League new boys had agreed a fee with Derry last week and discussed personal terms with McCourt.

But Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed the club have ended their interest in signing the former Rochdale youngster.

Mowbray told the club's official website: "While we are trying to get the first team right for the Premier League, we are also looking to bring in players to strengthen the underbelly of the club.

    Greater opportunity

"It's a process we started last season and Pat was one of a few players we are looking to bring in - but on our terms.

"These are players who, while we're trying to develop their talent, can step into the first team at any given time.

"However, during the club's discussions with Pat, it became clear he has other options where he feels he may have a greater opportunity to play first-team football and we wish him all the best."

he reckons he had more chance to play for celtic than west bromwich albion ?!!
    the mind boggles .

its a bit like the mizuno guy , people can post on and on and on here praising a player they havent seen kick a ball ,Either he plays or he doesnt , i couldnt care less , they play and impress or dont impress

He's Most probably just another guy in the squad who will play more reserve football than 1st team

whatever will be will be , the futures not ours to see.....:celt_2:

Worst off he pushes our reserves. I think the money paid is worth at least that. No real risk here. Good piece of business.

Spoke to a friend about him earlier, quick, two-footed player and very tricky, good passer also. Comfortable on both wings.

Backup for Aiden and Naka, which we have been criminally lacking!

24-year-old with lots of unfulfilled potential that our backroom team can get to work on. Tracking-back will be the first area by all accounts.

Put it this way, the huns pay nearly 4m for that feckin donkey laugherty....we pay 200k for a 'proper' winger, who has been a Tim all his life.

Good, cheap backup option for both wings who might just surprise us despite the step-up.

Best of luck with this signing might be the signing of the season you heard it here first, by far the most skilled player in the eircom league. Sound sound bloke as well!! At least you'l get 100% all the time and plus HE WILL WANT THE JERSEY AND GIVE ALL IN THE HOOPS!

    NEW CELTIC SIGNING

    Celtic have signed paddy mccourt
Sorry if this has been posted before
    from celtic website:

CELTIC Football Club have tonight completed the signing of highly-rated Derry City winger Patrick McCourt.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland internationalist agreed a three-year deal with the SPL champions after finalising his transfer on Thursday. He will join up with Gordon Strachan’s squad for the start of pre-season training next month.

“I’m thrilled and it still hasn’t quite sunk in yet to be honest,” he smiled, just seconds after signing on the dotted line for his beloved Hoops. “This is a dream come true for me.

“There was interest from a few clubs but as soon as I found out that Celtic were in for me, my mind was made up. I have always been a Celtic supporter and there was only one choice to make. It's an honour to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I think a lot of people will be surprised by this guy from what i'm hearing from my family in Ireland. He has the ability to beat players at will and only lacks an end product at times, remind you of anyone the season before last?

Players that commit full backs and have a trick or 2 are a dying breed if you manage to unearth 1 then keep him at all costs, that came straight from Martin O'Neill's mouth on BBC last night as well not mine!

ok there seems to have been a lot of opinions on the signing and i have read all the posts on this thread and elsewhere such as paper articles about the guy. the opinion i have is i am happy to read that he has first and foremost football ability!! good control, great skill, can use both feet (which the amount of players in prof football cant i think is pathetic) can beat a man and obviously is a talented FOOTBALLER! ok so he might only have played for rochdale and clubs in ireland but you might just find he thought he had lost his chance to show of his skills at a high level and therefore his hunger can sometimes not be very consistent. imagine if you were in his shoes and you had the talent i firmly believe he has, and you get the chance to sign for the hoops!! you would have a massive spring in your step and be looking forward and determined to become a star. he will be training at excellent facilities with good players and in some cases with the likes of naka and mcgeady great players. The opportunity to impress and push for the first team and run out and play in front of 60k, not just once but make a real impact an hold his place and become a mainstay and more. He will have the best of everything you need to showcase his talents and i really hope he comes over and plays his one game and pushes on to play the game it should be played when in his position which is taking people on, taking the game up the pitch, playing people in and also hopefully contrbuting with a few quality goals. lets just hope the fans give the guy encouragemt to play this way and dont get on his back if he tries things and gets the ball take off him once in a while. as i cannot understand some peoples idea of the game when they do this with even mcgeady. you know who you's are!! cant have enough of these guys the ones ones that make me love watching and playing the game these players are the real stars of football. I for one will be watching you closely paddy and sincerely hope you have a great time playing for our club, aim to hit the ground running show us some entertainment. we need more players in our squad that has real ability on the ball, there is nothing more irrirating to see is a player in the team that cant control a ball or has a bad first touch. i hope your dream has only just started Paddy, you can never stop impoving even c ronaldo thinks he can get better. Lets hope become a a real entertainer in the hoops, i have the feeling this would could be the break you thought had gone. I wish you very best of luck you have a chance, you have the ability, grab it mate!!!

Everyone went on about how good Mizuno would be so hopefully both wingers will have a great season next year. I wish the guy all the best and there's not much pressure on him as McGeady and Naka didn't score many last season (8 I think).

The video did remind me of Besty clips I've seen and that's without the "fond of the booze comments"!
