This man will never be considered up there with the best in terms of Celtic players imo - especially considering he only played one season with us (albeit he was fantastic ON the pitch during that season).
As far as I'm concerned, him and his two pals jumped ship because they weren't given the extravagant wages that they all seeked.
Wee Fergus was bang on to get shot of "The Three Amigos".

I think he was made promises that didn't come to fruition. I just * wish he stayed for 2 more years so we could have seen Di Canio, Lubo and Larsson in the same team.

I'm in the same boat with this. It's the impression I get, anyway. -
I think Larsson was a direct replacement for di Canio - so for that, I am * delighted he took the hump. As for promises being made, I'm not so sure about that. I'm fairly sure (my opinion of course) that both he and Cadete were pushing for mega wages, outwith the structure.

I always took Larsson as Cadete's direct replacement. Point stands though, would have * loved to see Di Canio, Lubo and Larsson together. -

I've never heard/read direct quotes concerning the other version of events so I haven't really got an opinion on the matter.

I was always of the mindset that we never signed a direct replacement for Cadete until we signed Brattbakk.
Yes, would have been something else to see those three play in the same team, but at least we ended up with 2/3 that wanted to be at the club :50: -
At one point he also said (i'm pretty positive) that the main reason he wanted to leave the club was because he was unhappy at Tommy Burns being sacked.

For me he was a tremendous talent but a money grabber, just another one who used our club as a stepping stone to the EPL.
I was more * off at the thought of Paul Mcstay having to hang up his boots at the end of that season, than I was of the 3 amigos leaving. -
Well considering he turned down Manchester Utd to stay at West Ham, when he was coming to the end of his career, I would disagree wholeheartedly with this.

Good shout mate. The "contract rebels" situation more than took the shine off of what should have been a rapturous farewell to one of Celtic's greatest servants.
He also signed for cash-strapped boyhood team Lazio on a cut-price wages deal. That isn't an instant indicator (well, to me anyway) that he wasn't trying to push the boundaries at Celtic because he believed himself to be bigger than the club. -

What has gave you that impression of him? I've always got the impression that he loved his time here and the passion but couldn't stand Fergus McCann and Tommy Burns getting the sack.

He might well have been, but it's quite a sweeping statement to call him a money grabber, when it has been shown now on more than one occasion not to be the case.
I am in the camp that thinks he was promised a lot, but never quite got everything that was originally on the table. -
The fact that he demanded to leave the club after one season.
I know McCann was a tough wee * in terms of business, but I'm sure if he thought that Di Canio et al were as integral to the future of the Celtic team as they so clearly thought they were, he would have given them contract bonus to reflect that.
I honestly do get the impression that they thought they were mega-stars and demanded far too much. The fact that we got rid of them and brought in an influx of TEAM PLAYERS for the following season is testament to McCann's vision.
