Actually I think Mizuno was signed for business reasons.........adding his signing to Naka probably raised Japanese interests in our game. It was rumoured a week ago that when Naka goes another one will be on the way. The business world is oh so cynical

As far as paddy is concerned...........I don't know that he's going to make it at first team level ( I hope that I'm wrong :87:) but he's still young. The problem with the old firm is that you have to come onto your game pretty quick or you're left behind. I watched him in the reserves and while he can put in a fair pass he has this slow loping style which really wouldn't cut it in the speed of our game. Maybe it's a question of fitness or being able to adapt over the long term.

Anyone remember the time we bought an unknown unproven Swede for 500k??

I think he turned out not too shabby?

That guy really was a bust. Didn't we have to offload him on some pish team down south?

yep I think he is miles short of fit. He himself has said the SPL is a big step up in standard and fitness expectations despite some posters suggesting that the SPL is not much different from the Eirecom league.

I wouldn't mind seeing him (or Mizuno for that matter) loaned out in January if they're still on the fringes and we've kept all our wingers.

Connor Sammon left Derry recently and went to Killie and has scored 3 goals last week! Having watched both of them play for Derry I can tell ye's, Sammon couldn't lace Paddys boots.Sammon couldn't even get into Derry's first team squad. Surley WGS could give Paddy a go in a league game the weekend before our next CL game!

Although he probably is nowhere near that standard, there is a lot about his style that reminds me of George Best: sort of uses his balance and change of pace to drop a shoulder and wrongfoot his marker rather than loads of dribbling. He looks more like a player who will cut in a lot like Naka on the right or Shaun on the left, not a flyer like McGeady. I have higher hopes for him than Koki although to be fair both have missed a lot of football.

he has the talent. he could destroy the likes of hamilton,st mirren killie etc. rangers and in europe is another step up.maybe thats beyond him.
but hes a great talent.his problem is his fitness and attitude.hes a lazy shi!te who drinks and smokes too much.
when he was signed for Celts, i think peter lawwell ,but im open to correction, said he needs 6 months in the sports science department for his fitness to catch up.
btw his fitness isnt typical of eircom league players.its just that hes always been a lazy so and so. if he sorts his fitness/attitude hel be a great crowd-pleaser.
in short,we need to be patient ....

Aye right pal, that would be right even though he said himself two or three weeks ago that he was still a bit off the pace, maybe you should go and tell him he is talking *!!!:87:

Have you seen him play yet?

Again, have you seen him play yet? The fact you think he's under 4 feet tall would suggest you don't have a clue what you are talking about and are in fact on the lookout for an argument.

I disagree it doesnt take you 4 and a bit months to get fit to play in a league, a month or 2 yes.

So far Pat mccourt cant be blamed, noone knows what goes on behind closed doors.
people coming out with what a waste, not good enough, why did we buy him should vent their anger at gordon strachan, hes the one who brought him in, do you think Paddy a celtic fan is going to turn down the chance to play for Celtic? not at all, Im confident if given a chance he will produce but I understand strachan knows what hes doing. Lay off the guy till he gets a fair crack and if he doesnt produce its only 250,000, a wellworth gamble for strachan to take considering his potential. he has as much going for him coming here as kevin doyle did going from cork city to reading.
