Paddy is popular with the fans because he's an exciting player to watch and because he's one of us.

Because his level of skill, he is easily the most talented player in Scotland. Fantastic touch, control, dribbling, passing, shooting, crossing, vision. Don't think him being Irish even comes into it really, maybe adds 5%. If he was English, Welsh, Chinese, Swedish, Spanish he'd still be a huge fan favourite - if he was Brazilian he'd probably be liked even more.

Just a shame that he doesn't have the fitness to reach his potential, he's built more like an average guy off the street than a footballer, not any power or anything in his legs. If you transported his footballing ability into the body of Brown or Ledley he'd probably be worth £20million+

Paddy really needs a good run in of games he still holds alot in his locker, neil knows the fans love him and that other teams know he'll cause them problems when he has the ball and that's never a bad thing only thing i would say is he's too good to be sitting on the bench all season listening to kenny shiels on the radio the other night and was absolutely raving about him, more than what could be said about his own son

He's Irish, a Celtic fan and a crowd-pleaser, but beyond that he is a very talented guy.

He should have more game time.

Think this season he'll play much more. Would love to see a midfield with him, Twardzik and McGeouch for most SPL games, keep all our first team fit for Europe.

McCourt is the most over rated player in our squad.

Because he's an entertainer, someone who can excite the crowd because we know what he can do, and when he picks up the ball there's always a sense that he might go on one of his runs, beat 4 players and score a wonder goal. A throwback to the likes of Jinky and Dalglish, players who would get the ball and the crowd would get excited just in anticipation of what they might produce.

    what a daft question! :56:

he's the Derry Pele! the fact that he looks like he's been fished out off a hedge pished before he turns up for work and still entertains the fans also helps lol. :56: and that chant is brilliant!

obviously, putting my objective football manager hat on, I'd defo punt him, as much for his good as for our own. I mean it has been a while since he scored one of those goals! though remember lennon's first season (before commons came in) when he was more or less playing every week in centre mid and he looked the part! :50:

I don't see the huge fascination with McCourt I just think he scores a wonder goal against a diddy team but that's it. I feel he is very greedy doesn't get his head up to cross nearly enough and if he was any other nationality but Irish he would have been chased out the club a long time ago
I would rather punt him and give the young lads a chance

Derry Pele is called that because when he gets the ball people will watch how he plays the Celtic way cause he is an entertainer. No one at Paradise wants to see the long ball, they want to see passion and flair (as I said that is the celtic way).

We all know how the song goes, we don't care if we win loose or draw, what the * do we care, cause we always know that there is going to be a show and the Glasgow Celtic will be there, cause we are the best * team in Scotland and now the greatest good bye the manky mob...... hahaha :bbpd:

Whatever players will be playing in Europe need to be playing as often as possible in the SPL, they need to be as match-fit as possible for games in Europe otherwise they wont be up to the pace at all. Maybe playing the likes of McCourt, and resting first team players the weekend before or after a midweek European game would be a good idea though.

He's produced some fantastic moments that's for sure. But it get's tedious when he get's the ball and doesn't pass it back till he loses it.. like he's always got to prove himself by taking it around 4 - 5 players then score a goal. Aye, they're fantastic moments but I'd like to see his team-work skills adapt more.

As to why he never get's a game. No one seems to know the real reason bar Lennon himself. :39:
