    Frank,

If you feel so strongly that Forrest should receive more adulation and have more songs song about him, why not start a song, get your mates to sing it with in the pub before the match, walking up to the match etc

That's how all chants get started, If it's a catchy number then people will join in and it will spread. There is always room for more songs at the games, especially about the players.

On an earlier point, of course Nationality will come into a players popularity, ask most Celtic fans born in Scotland (as I was) whether they would rather have great Scottish (local) talent on the pitch emulating great teams like The Lions or non-Scots and they will say they want local (Scottish) lads. It's only natural that the Irish are proud that one of their own is playing for the club they hold dear.

You can't take that out, it's not the only reason he is adored but it is a big one for a lot of people, other Irishmen such as Niall didn't receive the adulation/songs at Celtic park but I can tell you that anytime they and indeed Stokes as well are in Belfast they are treated with equal fervour.

Even though Paddy doesn't get many starts there was no time during the summer (up until now anyway) where Lennon has even hinted at an exit for him when many others were shown the door. The manager must feel he has a part to play and has been stated in a few posts when the game is tight and we are looking a goal then Paddy is the one Lennon turns to.

This and the fact he's the best impact player in our team and arguably the best entertainer we have. Football is Entertainment, Entertainment is Paddy mcCourt.

He gets the luv from me because he's the most talented footballer we have. That simple.

He doesn't have the speed or strength of some of our players, but speed and strength are rarely very romantic qualties, whereas skill, imagination and mercurial genius are. :50:

McCourt appears to be some sort of cult hero. Would I be distraught if we sold him?? No. Do I think we should sell him??? No.

McCourt is someone who offers a different style of play and that can be useful in certain situations(I wouldn`t have him in my starting line-up); he`s also slightly let down by his teammates when he plays. Instead of helping out with movement and giving him an option, they tend to stand back and let him take players on.

As for adulation, well he`s the modern day Enrico Annoni.

It's clear paddy is loved for reasons other than just football.our fans always take Irish players to our hearts but it's defo not cos he's an Irish catholic etc but the fact that the rest of Scotland seem to have a problem with Irish players especially the ones who play for Celtic. An example being,a lot of fans would have been happy to see another manager replace Lenny when we were really struggling in his first season yet with all the bombs etc the bond grew and now Lenny is virtually untouchable

I think it's simply because he's "one of us".
Every Celtic fan, whether from Ireland or Scotland or elsewhere, can look at Paddy and think "that could have been me".

He looks like he goes to sleep in his Hoops top and is genuinely happy and a bit surprised that he really is a proffessional footballer playing for Celtic!

Cause he's Sniper Paddy, the true * of the squad. We need a die-hard * amongst our ranks, and Provo Pat fits the bill :50:
