I really am struggling to understand the logic in selling some good fringe or non regular 1st team players .paddy is a cracking player might not be first team every week but what happens when people get injured we are not going to have a starting team and no one ever get injured also goes same
    With Maloney and sammy

Well said, he would thrive in that sort of 11. Can't see it happening though, bound to be speculation like that in the media every time a wonder goal is scored. Best thing Paddy can do is to stay fit and keep doing the business at international level and then maybe the doubters will take their heads out of their arses and see the light.

Listen, it doesn't matter what we make of him as a player. The majority of us reckon we need a 'keeper and a striker, and this is backed up by the trialists we've brought in. Do you not reckon that if a bid comes in for him that isn't disrespectful, then it would be in the clubs interest to accept it? We struggled to make a large enough bid for the young Polish keeper recently, and we can't seem to afford a decent enough striker either. Would the money we bring in for McCourt not better place us to make these desired signings?

Personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over him being sold and if it ultimately ends up improving our squad then I think we should all be for it.

Yes, i agree that we need a keeper and a striker but would selling Paddy really fund anybody decent?

Well if we get £3mil for him I think that should seal a decent keeper or go some way towards a forward. Most the people i've seen us linked with have been in the region of £2mil.

Trouble is, i'm not sure any really good keepers are available. Missed out on Given. Ditto Westwood. Greg Coupet would have been a good buy a few years ago but think he's retired now. Don't think Craig Gordon is the answer either.
Not sure about those other guys that were being talked about, haven't seen enough of them.

Even if it's the likes of £1.5mil, which I think is more realistic for him, then that still makes a lot of difference to what we could spend. This is assuming, of course, that it gets put straight back into the transfer/wage budget.

anyone who thinks celtic will get more than £1.5m for paddy is dreaming, i'd be suprised if he went for more than a million but to be honest i cant see him going to liverpool.

    question for butch.

who is he better than in order to drop them for a starting place?

£2/3 mil was just a figure I seen splashed around on NewsNow, that's what I was going on but even if we got £1.5 you would assume after the financial results it would go in to the club.

Dalglish must have had a bump on the head before spending good cash on this guy.

Maybe he wants him for the 5-a-side team ?

He would do well there , but a full size park for 90 mins?

    Yer having a laugh.

"I know Paddy can do that," said Lennon. "He would probably like to play more but he is a valuable squad member.

"He has just got to be patient like everybody else, the chance will come and he has just got to take it."

Lennon interviewed last weekend. It appears our manager DOES rate Paddy, even if some of our fans do not.
    In Lennon we trust!!

I know that on the question of Paddy, our support are split right down the middle. Me personally, I think it's the best for both Paddy and the Club if he moves on. I think Paddy McCourt has unbelievable talent, I really do, he is so exciting to watch, but only when he is on form, which sadly is nowhere near what is needed. I have heard the argument, that he doesn't get enough games to play in. That's maybe a fair shout, but most of the times he has had a wee chance or that, he has let himself down. Irrespective of what game time you get, every time, you run out that tunnel, your aim should be, to be the" Man of the Match", in every single game you play in. Sorry Paddy, but inconsitency will cost you your Celtic dream. Good luck either way Paddy :60:

I hope Paddy gets a start on Thursday night. I'd like to see him in a free role between the midfield and Anthony Stokes. I think he could do a job in that role.
