well im going with my head. he is an extremly talented player.

"he beats crap spl defenders" its not his fault he is only picked in crap spl fixtures. in preseason games he rinsed the likes of benfica and man city, because he was given the chance.

if he gets in the first team permanently he will be our best player. i have no doubts

did you see the blackburn game he was hot and cold even lennon had a go at him asking saying he need to step up his game! not knocking him but people thinks he is a world beater, and when you say i think he is a good squad player and thats about it people don't like it

how long has he been with us? and yet still not 100% fit? again he can look good when we play the wee teams fair enough, but he is or won't be the best player at parkhead even if he gets games under his belt

.....well i'll say it again. Mccourt has come out and said, he no longer has any injury problems, he has no idea where this rumour is coming from.

well i read that lenny said he wanted to see more of what he saw at blackburn then he could be the replacement for aiden.

How about getting behind your players now?? that might be quite good, especially one like paddy who will be our best player if given the oppurtunity.

Fair enough, i have no doubt in my mind whatsoever, that if he is given his chance to become our new winger permanently, we will have a very very good player :50:

PADDY McCOURT isn't fit to wear the jersey - his own gaffer says so.

But last night the Celtic winger insisted boss Neil Lennon is wrong to question his match sharpness - and vowed to prove it.

McCourt was immense against Blackburn in last week's friendly.

But he walked off the pitch only to hear his gaffer slaughter his lack of conditioning.

Lennon claimed McCourt wasn't in tip-top shape - but that he was as good as he was ever going to get.

The Northern Ireland star, who hopes to face Caley Thistle today, was left gutted by the comments and insisted: "I feel in great shape.

"I don't know what he meant by that, but I've had to answer these questions for two years now.

"When I first came in, they were valid questions because I was struggling badly.

"But now I have been here for two years and I feel great.

"You watch me play and I don't know if I look fitter to you. But when I play I feel good.

"I feel I can play games no problem. When I first came in I was miles behind.

"But I had missed a lot of training and been out for a few months and I don't know why this issue keeps popping up now. I felt I did my job on the pitch against Blackburn and put in a good performance.

"But that's something the manager has got in his head.

"It's up to me to keep putting in performances, playing 90 minutes and hopefully that will shift it.

"Do I feel myself taking breathers in games? No, I don't.

"When you play on the wing, you can't have the ball for 90 minutes.

"You might get ten or 15 minutes when the ball doesn't come to you and you are not getting a kick.

"That's not me taking a breather.

"It's just the way the game is played.

"But there is no need for me to go and speak to the gaffer.

    "I don't think he is being over-critical.

"He has been here since I joined the club and saw me when I was really unfit.

"He's probably thinking that, although I'm a lot better, I can still improve - and that's fine.

"But the only way I'll get better now is by playing 90 minutes on a regular basis.

"You can do all the running and afternoon sessions you want, but unless you are playing 90 minutes regularly you are not going to get any more match fit.

"I've not had a run of first-team games and that's what you need.

"Pre-season friendlies and bounce games don't have the same tempo. I'm just hoping I can really kick on this year.

"If I get three or four matches in a row, it's up to me to keep hold of that jersey.

"This is definitely a big season for me. I don't know about make or break, but I want to kick on this year after signing a new contract.

"If I get the opportunity to make the jersey my own then I have to take it. If that happens then I won't give it up easily.

"There are a lot of players here so competition is already fierce.

"If the club brings in players of the quality of Craig Bellamy, then that will make it even harder.

"But if I get a run in the team then I don't care who is here. I don't think anyone will put me out of it."

McCourt, 26, looks as lean as any player in the country and he's worked hard to get himself fit.

He added: "Everyone works hard. If you come and watch training, then you will see it is intense.

"It's a fact that my body simply couldn't handle the training at the start.

"I was trying to the extra sessions and stuff, but it was too much because my base fitness was so low when I first arrived.

"Now though, I can do it no problem and take on everything asked of me. I just hope it will show on the pitch.

"I was picking up a lot of niggling injuries at the start because my muscles weren't ready for it.

"But I have never shied away from hard work and did what I had to."

The departure of Aiden McGeady means Celtic are without an attacking wide player
    .

McCourt would love to fill that void and insists he can.

He said: "Yeah, I think I can if I get the opportunity.

"I would have loved to have played alongside Aiden.

"But if there is a space to be filled I hope I can do that.

"Without doubt they are big boots to fill.

"In my eyes, Aiden was probably the best player in the league.

"You don't want to lose your best player, but there is a lot of money on offer and I'm sure the club took its time to weigh up the deal.

"But I'm not concentrating on filling Aiden's boots. I just want to go on and be my own player.

"Hopefully, I can do the same job as him by being the creative outlet in the team. Fingers crossed, I can play against Inverness.

"If I get a jersey, it's up to me to keep hold of it."

Celtic will be without crocked hitman Gary Hooper today and skipper Scott Brown will have a late fitness test.

As always Sun exageratting with the headline.

This as he said himself is a big season for McCourt at Celtic. He certainly has all the skill to become a big player for us and bring some excitment back to watching Celtic play. I certainly hope he starts tomorrow against Inverness. There is no doubt on form McCourt is a quality player. The question this season is can he do it on a consistent basis and can he produce against top teams. Lets hope the answer to both questions is yes as he is a joy to watch when on form.

    * no chance a manager would say one of his own players are not fit to put on a celtic shirt. * load of nonsence ignore it trying to get under our skin and disturd the team.

i was watching channel67 last week and mccourt was saying he's been fit for the best part of 2 seasons minus little niggles all players pick up its just managers selection which has restricted his play. he said he wants to move away from this "lack of fitness" tag which he's associated with
