I knew as soon as he posted that quote he was in for some stick lol

To be honest, even if he was a pro or an ex pro wouldn't mean he would necessarily have a better knowledge of the game or players abilities. Just look at the amount of players that have been useless in coaching or management. I think generally, the best managers and coaches have tended to be players who never quite cut it at professional level, or guys who didn't play pro at all because they are more able to look at the game objectively without continually referencing it to their old position or how the game was played in 'their day'

Either way, it wasn't a wise comment to make. Silly pokemon

Good players do not always know what to look for in other players. Most, especially at the top level are so self absorbed they cannot see past themselves.

Even to the point that they try to out do each other in every matter possible, small things like who has the rarest watch, or most exclusive car seats. Depending what level your talking about though.

Yeah, modern day players are becoming more and more like that. I can't really think of many players in the current new generation (say 18-21yr olds) that I can see being the type of player to stay in the game in coaching or management. Maybe jack wilshere, he seems an old school type footballer with his feet more grounded than most

I cannot speak for the SPL.

But in England, the most settled player I have had the pleasure of meeting that I believe would stay should he be asked too, would be Tom Cleverley. His head is screwed on the right way.

I've never seen Pablo Piatti in real life.

My only knowledge of the boy is, predictably, formed from computer games. Still, if he's as good for Celtic as he was for my Wigan side back in '08 then we've got a serious player on our hands :56:

Yeah agree with you on that. And there are probably a few more around his age too. I only really meant in the most recent generation.

Very under rated footballer too I think

Seen him a few times for Valencia, he is certainly a good player and without a doubt if he settles in Scotland would increase the quality of our squad and the football on the park.

Yeah there is a few, but personally I can only say Cleverley. Some at Chelsea, Some at Arsenal and other clubs in the BPL.

If he can play RW and he's a player (i.e. give us the spark we've been missing for a while) then get him in - * knows Forrest needs a boot up the *!!!

And if he can also play LW or in the hole, then even better!!!

    Hail Hail

We should be doing all we can to get him in for the price he's available at.

    Would be sensational here.

The article said a £1.75 million fee was pretty much agreed with Rennes.
