Want an instant upgrade on Taylor not someone to rotate with him. Said it before I wanted him in Jan as times were that desperate it felt like he would be an upgrade. After seeing more of him hes not an instant upgrade not saying he won't become better but right now we need instant upgrades of certain areas.

Alot of us maybe just blinded by that one game against Yang now myself included. Does he have room to become a top Left back that we would regret in a couple years time not getting?

Interesting it's another loan we are looking at.

Wonder if it's a case of kicking the can down the road for another year until a certain someone is in final year of his contract and more affordable to us.

Don't really understand the comments on him not being an upgrade on Taylor.

He's everything Taylor isnt. He's quick, he can dribble, he can go by a man, overlaps, get crosses into the box.

He's an upgrade simply bcoz his style is far more suited to the way we play and way manager wants us to play.

I agree to an extent, and it’s a good point.

However, I think what folk mean by ‘not an upgrade’ is that his overall level of consistency and “performance” (in the sense of getting the most out of his game) isn’t quite there, and is no better than Taylor’s level of that.

But he’s still developing, and like you say, at least he fits the profile of a Rodgers full-back. Ultimately, I want someone like him to come in and take Taylor’s place as the backup, with someone else such as Borna Sosa - different in age and build, but similar in playing style - to come and be first choice.

We’re not getting both this window, realistically, so overall I do agree with others that we shouldn’t be targeting him if we’re looking for someone to compete with Taylor. Can do better for that role; sign Beck once we’ve got shot of GT.

Would be worth a loan to buy or flat out purchase as a backup to a first team left back. Would not mind that one bit

Am still a fan of Beck, think he'd be a sensation under Rodgers. If that's his man iPhone we get him.

Edit - Lol that was meant to be 'I hope'. Leaving it in cos it's a cracker of a typo.

Maybe this is another reason rodgers came out with the value the player not the league!.
To have this thought in our heads if this happens haha.

I honestly think Phillips is worse.

    I despise Duffy.

Hendry won the lottery coming here.

I agree mate we should be lookin at a player a level above but as iv mentioned above I think the clubs long term goal is Tierney.

Bring in someone on loan for the season, allows us to send Anderson out for more game time to aid development,

Taylor probably unlikely to sign a new deal after his grumblings about wanting to be 1st choice so he likely goes on a free next year.

This time next year out left back options are Tierney and a much more developed Anderson.

It's only reason I can think of why we are attempting to loan players to fix a longterm problem position.

Well other than the obvious we are cheap * and our recruitment team havnt a clue what the * they are doing but it's Friday and I'm tyring to be positive.

    Beck not good enough (yet).
I'd be dismayed if he's brought in to provide competition for Taylor and thats where we stop.

As for a loan move, it seems we are only looking at LB loans with Bueno etc?
Does that indicate Taylor is #1 and will get a contract and we just get young loaners in to see if they can push him out the team?
    Surely not:39:

We should be aiming for a Joranovic, Lustig standard as a full back - experienced, already established internationals but from outside the overly inflated EPL market.

Best left back in the league last year
Only 21 and would definitely develop under Rodgers with more game time, taller than Taylor too.
Seems to fit Rodgers system more than Taylor too
I'm not against it, but I don't think there's anything in the link

Think Liverpool extended his contract just to get a little money in selling him. Could have signed for free this summer if Liverpool didn't exercise the extension. Can't grumble at that. But of we loan him need to have option to by.

I think he was good the first half of last season but the thing I would question is how much better is he than Matthew Anderson? Is he that much better that we should sign him?

If we were decent in the transfer market, Taylor turning down a new deal should have us shopping for a first choice left back, selling Taylor and promoting Andersson to back up left back.

I don’t think Beck is someone you would go and buy to be your main left back.

Of all the LB's in the world that fall within our financial reach can anyone honestly say Owen Beck is the best? Or even top 10? I'd love to know how much Liverpool would want for him though. Given they think £4M isn't enough to buy Nat Phillips the mind boggles.
