It isn't working though, is it? Take his fitness philosophy - okay great, we've lost a few KG throughout the squad.....how has that translated into improved performances on the pitch? All of the philosophies and strategies in the world are just the means to and end and mean nothing if they're not producing results and performances, and so far they're not.

Saying Tierney wouldn't have got a game is pure conjecture so I won't even go into it. As it saying Bitton and Griffiths wouldn't be the players they are. Both were signed by Lennon, who had a pretty decent record of getting the best out of central midfielder (Wanyama/Ki/Ledley/Kayal pre injury) and didn't do too badly with Hooper either.

He's right, that is the other problem but do we continue and fail in Europe with the same mistakes time after time or do we back the manager to eventually find the right formula....which if we're all honest, he should already have found..

It's catch 22 but he's not filling me with much optimism whatsoever..

Pure conjecture based on the facts. Which players did Lennon give game time to from our Academy? What evidence is there Tierney would have got games?

The irony being you pull me up for conjecture in one sentence then suggest Bitton and Griffiths would have had the same career trajectory at Celtic under Lennon.

It works both ways. The facts are Tierney is bursting through and both those players are better for working with Deila.

Griffiths was banging them in for lennon.it was bitons first season under lennon and he had a few injuries as well.

Griffiths was scoring less and contributing even less than that.

Bitton just wasn't the same player in any way, shape or form.

Lennon brought watt on against barca... and to those saying none of the candidates mentioned dont fill you with confidence, im struggling to think how any of them could do any worse to be honest, each and every one of them could win us the league and a cup and be eliminated from the europa group stages

It isn't based on facts though - that's the whole conjecture point I was making :smiley-laughing002: it's simply your opinion presented as facts.

I never said that Bitton or Griffiths would've had the same career trajectory, I would fully expect them to be different players. However, if they would be better, worse or just as good as they are now is anyone's guess and as I said, Lennon's record of getting the best from players was actually very, very good.

Would it be fair to say Lustig was better under Lennon? What about Ambrose? What about Izaguirre? Commons? Stokes?

You're picking a couple of isolated incidents in Bitton and Griffiths, ignoring the fact that not only were they both fairly new to the club when Lennon left, one of them was perpetually injured, and both were actually signed by Lennon as young players with potential to develop!

When it comes to developing and getting the best out of players I would still take Lennon over Deila, based on his current track record.

Lustig has been exactly the same when fit, Ambrose and Izzy likewise. Commons has actually done more in Europe and Stokes simply does not fit in the current structure.

My point about it being based on facts is, where is the evidence Lennon would give Tierney game time or work with Griffiths and Bitton on their weaknesses?

So is there now a myth that Lennon didnt play young players. What the *? Forrest, Watt, Henderson, all from the academy. Look at Victor and all the rest he developed. In terms of development we have never had a better man for it in modern times. So we havnt most of his signings were youngsters.

Tierney - debut handed to Tony Watt. In Lennon's first season we had an average player age of 22 in on of the games vs Rangers. He wasn't afraid to play youngsters.

Griffiths and Bitton - the numerous players that improved significantly during Lennon's time at the club. There's a long, long list.
