Said during the game... over run...out fought. Out played. Played through. Weak. * in possession. Even worse in the transition.

Needs a total review of the personel and shape in there. Needs to add during the next couple of windows.

It's a mentality issue more than a tactical or skill-based one.

I've said it for years McGregor is obviously a fantastic player but he is/was/never will be a holding mid. How many times do we see in a tough game where McGregor is the sitter us struggle.

Today was eerily similar to Dortmund he was clearly the only one in there to protect the back 4 whilst Bernardo and Reo were in a different postcode further up the park.

For me every midfielder we have wants to do the same thing the possible exception could be Engles as we've not really seen enough of him but Bernardo, McGregor, Hatate, McCowan are all wanting to do the same thing. We need a number 10 and a big * who will kick anything that moves

Every single one of them was an absolute disgrace. Mcgregor was * useless, hatate was a * joke and Bernardo had an absolute nightmare.

And then you're bringing on a complete shitebag like engels mcCowan that's barely played.

    Bumping this thread yet again.
Midfield (again) is a real problem for us against fired up or decent opposition, too many mentally and physically weak players.
I have the fear for YBB game tbh.

It needs more pace and power..

    McGregor
    McCowan
    Bernardo
    Hatate

There's a lot of grafting in there but there isn't much pace. Seen all 3 getting breezed by a few times lately..

It's time Hatate moved on. So as well as pace and power, we need more creativity in there also..

    Been saying it for years.

It's still an issue. I had a thread similar to this. Can't believe we haven't addressed it.

Bernardo was absolutely gash tonight. I would start with McGregor, Engels and McCowan at the weekend.

There doesn't seem to be a balance, no matter who is playing.
We are missing O'Riley more than I thought we would.
We don't have that 'silky' influence in any of the options, and there seems to be too many like for like players just now.

We seen it against Dortmund, we seen it against the huns in both games and we've seen it again tonight, our midfield offers zero protection to our defence.

I like every midfielder we have, but none of them are good tracking back, and that's a big worry.

CDM has been a priority for us for years now, yet Lennon, Ange and Rodgers x2 have ignored it each time.

No defensive protection. No real pace and power. Very little creativity.

    Incredible

I said it in the match thread, we've conceded 3 goals on four occasions when teams got at as the past 7 or 8 months. The sheep semi, the huns twice and Dundee. The cup final wan't exactly convincing either.

Bernardo was horrendous but mcgregor gets a by ball and plays 90 mins every game and hasn't contributed much on the pitch at all lately

They're just all a bit similar, all work hard and are tidy in that 6/8 role, but if it's not working it's hard to change the game.
There's no proper physical number six and no really creative number ten

No Scott Brown there anymore. We've never replaced him effectively, admittedly not an easy task.
McGregor running on empty again. This should be his swansong year.

I'm a bit * off with our midfield.

Our squad in general, nobody has came in and actually made a case for the jersey.

    * mental considering how deep our squad is.

The most obvious thing is just how much we miss O'Riley. Nothing we can do about it but his departure has left a chasm in the team.
