Fact is ,the stakes are way too high to expect any club to forfeit their place in the CL
No club would give up a possible £20mil jut to be seen to be doing the right thing.

    Actually, this is legit.

    From disciplinary rules by UEFA:

    Article 55 Identical requests
If the requests of the parties are identical the Appeals Body complies with the
request, provided that it is not obviously inappropriate.

Also, not sure if anyone responded yet. 4 people have been sacked for this. Pretty much everyone who had this list in sight.

    I'm not picky.
But if that team went through just because it was "an irrelevant clerical mistake" then every team could play on this fact. It would create a huge cluster * and teams would take advantage.

The rule is basic...field a player who is suspended and you get thrown out the competition. There's no grey area as there shouldn't be.

Well, actually Mioduski owns 80% of Legia (Leśniodorski owns the remaining 20%), so if he says he would do it, he probably would. Or at least he would be able to because it's his money. That's the difference between Legia and Celtic, I suppose.

I heard we were considering letting Legia advance, but then changed our mind, cause we didn't fancy a trip to * Kazakhstan again.

if that's the case though there squad would consist of 26 players against st. pats not 25, I personally think that they thought they were being clever in the last round and have not realised the effects

Well if he wasn't registered for all the games which he sat out, then it's not cheating but it is against the rules, and I don't think I need to tell you what the rules say on that matter.

It's unfortunate that this happened, but Legia are angry at the wrong people, Celtic didn't do anything wrong (except get pumped) so there is no reason why we should give up our chance at CL football when we followed the rules.

The punishment was a 3-0 defeat for naming a suspended player in the matchday squad, in accordance with the UEFA guidelines; nothing more, nothing less. Legia are just * that it coincided with their elimination from the competition.

Had Legia still qualified 5-4, 6-4, 7-4 or whatever (or even had they, hypothetically, been trounced 4-0, 6-1, 9-5 or whatever as a result of the ruling) there'd be absolutely nothing said about this.

No he didn't because he wasn't registered for the competition. He can't serve a suspension from a competition he's not registered in.

You're probably right. Celtic board is in a more difficult position than Mioduski, who owns 80% of Legia and could afford acting honourably, because that's his money, whilst the Celtic board has to answer to the owners of the club.

But even the question of Bereszyński being suspended is a doubtful one. After all, he sit out his suspension, didn't he?

Well, that's the technicality that gave you your CL spot. But that's all it is--a technicality.

Why should a team who followed the rules be thrown out in favour of a team that didn't follow the rules?

Yeah but it's hardly following the rules is it? :86:

At a professional football club, and so much at stake, there shouldn't of been a chance of this happening, but it did and even tho Legia didn't 'cheat', deserved to win and should go into the next round, they can't.

About this letter though, we should just arrange a wee friendly with them and play the same team that got beat 6-1 by spurs just so we can maybe make it three in a row :smiley-laughing002:

Not in the eyes of UEFA, and that's the problem.

IN response to statements made by Legia Warsaw today, a spokesperson for Celtic Football Club said:
“We are disappointed by Legia Warsaw's comments. This is entirely a matter for UEFA and its processes. Accordingly, we will reserve further comment for the appropriate time.”

p.s get it right up ye.
