I would want £7 million for Izzaguire for sure, left backs like Izzy dont come around too often and im pretty sure most clubs in the EPL or abroad for that matter would * at the chance of having him in their side, where as Shane Long i didnt say he was a bad player I'd love if we signed him but i just feel £7million would be far too much of a gamble and quality strikers are alot easier to come by than left backs are.

So would I, but I don't think 7 million is particularly over-inflated for Long, in the current market at least - especially as we would be looking for those kind of sums for players who have arguably achieved less.

Long has had 1 good season in the English Championship, what else makes £7million for him reasonable mate?

Essentially, It's the way the market is mate, the English leagues are ridiculously over-inflated. Even if we disregard that though, he's a player who has just had a fantastic season in a very competitive league; he's young and he's also put in some excellent performances at international level. Let's put it another way, if he was our player and he had just had this very season in our league with the vultures beginning to circle, would you say that 7 million was unreasonable?

I guess not but for a club with our finances,I don't think he is worth going for due to that price. If we spend really big, then they need to be proven players e.g Given, who I would pray that we make a move for.

Neither do I, he is certainly out of our price range if that is indeed what he goes for. Anyway, I've dragged this off-topic :icon_mrgreen:

Izzaguire is NOT a £7m defender. He is good going forward but he is NOT a great defender. Its a myth to suggest otherwise. He also had 1 season coming from relative obscurity. No club will bid £7m for him....at the moment.

I disagree, although his defending is questionable at times, I would say that is quite a rarity; usually he is a sound defender and most of the wingers in our league struggle for ideas of how to get past him in a one-on-one situation. Granted, his defending would have to step up a level in the premier league but I have no doubt he is capable of doing just that. Otherwise, he is an extremely impressive player and as high quality, young left-backs are so rare, 7 million would be a very reasonable valuation in my opinion.

I will be amazed if anyone looks at anything near £7m for him. He doesnt get pressed in scotland but there was many ocassions that he was caught out up the pitch. These situations are not highlighted as the opposition arent at a level to take advantage of it - if Its different in the epl or in europe.

    Just my opinion.

They needn't bother looking at anything near it :icon_mrgreen: He's staying in paradise. I agree though, of couse he doesn't get challenged defensively as much in our league but he's an extremely intelligent player. I have no doubt he would be able to adapt his game in the English premier league to become more defensively aware but he knows he can get away with playing the way he loves to in the Spl.

I hope he does prosper into a great defender but time will tell.

andy carrol is not a 35 million forward nor is henderson a 19m million right mid but a club paid that for them

it's not a myth if hutton can go for 8 million izzy is worth 7 million easy and if we hold out a club will pay somthing like that
