That's a really good point

 

The Olympics used to be a peace movement. The greeks had the concept of olympic truce. All wars stopped throughout the duration of the games. Athletes and spectators enjoyed the right of free passage to travel for the games including those from in-war city states. The fact there was no mention whatsoever about the ongoing conflicts around the world speaks volumes of how alienated the modern olympic movement has become from its historical roots. It's not like I expected them to support Palestine or criticize the USA. With all the atrocities taking place around the world, the least they could have done is speak up for peace. The french government (and the EU in general) openly supports the western war crimes. I guess they washed away their collective guilt for the genocide in Gaza by showing how accepting they are towards gender minorities. I'm all for openly supporting LGBTQIA+ rights, but this was blatant pinkwashing. Btw, Israel has mastered pinkwashing. Every year, they run a massive gay pride hoping they can pass for an accepting society when in fact they are an apartheid state.

Plenty of olympic sports are complete and utter nonsense. Seriously, what's the purpose of racewalking?

 

Angela Carini the Italian boxer forfeited after taking the first punch to the face from a man. Said she has never been hit so hard.

Trained all her life for it to be robbed.

Olympic boxing has always been more intresting in my opinion mainly down to it's fairness compared to traditional titles, it's a shame it has went this way.

If this is allowed to continue all it will do is kill the ambition of any young female inspiring athletes.

I'm not trying to be super politically correct here, she never transitioned.

She is like Caster Semenya, born female but with higher than normal testosterone levels. Honestly, I don't know what the right approach is on this issue in sport but she isn't a man.

 

Really? I thought the boxing association said she had an xy chromosome which is why she was banned.

This person isn’t a trans athlete, and doesn’t appear to be either male or female. Similar case to that of Semenya.

I don’t think either should be competing against CIS women though.

 

I’m all for Transgender rights and equality, but that doesn’t mean you can walk into a combat sport when you have an unfair physical advantage.

 

Chuffed we got to watch a world class Scottish sportsman competing at the elite level of a sport for so many years.

Disappointing way to end but what a legend

Bad time to do that when the world is burning at the moment.

That boxing thing is a mess and she’s got a massive backing because people like JK Rowling are calling her a man. I wish it was the late 90’s, early 00’s again, life was simpler.
