Good quotes there martin, but i a strange sort of way i would look forward to not winning trophies constantly. I think we would really get a serious old school atmosphere at the games and if we did win something it would be really special.

    Why?

With all due respect to Celtic, Surely as a team entering a whole new set up the right to play in EPL1 would have to be earned?

Not winning trphies every year wouldnt bother me if it were against decent opposition.

It certainly wouldnt be a stroll in the park but id relish the challenge.

I think thats what he meant. We wouldnt start off against the big guns. We would have to work our way up, it wouldnt be fair otherwise.

Id still take it over the SPL in a heartbeat, its guaranteeing potential.

I didn't say we should, I'm asking if we would be. Where, in this proposal, would we enter ?

I would welcome this with open arms, and from the list provided of what would (roughly) make up the second tier I think we would have a good chance of getting into the top division within the first two seasons. After that, the sky is the limit.

We have a bigger, more passionate support than probably every team in Britain (with the exception of Manchester United in size only) and would in my opinion flourish in the EPL, with our global brand increasing exponentialy.

Just imagine a Celtic team that could compete with the top teams in Europe on a regular basis, that could go into games against teams like Aalborg and Copenhagen confident of trouncing them home and away with a weakend side. Imagine Celtic winning the Champions League.

    It certainly is:50:

Amongst the list of clubs I'd wrote down, I was presuming that you were under the impression that it would be instant acceptance into the top division with the likes of Man Utd, apologies if i read that wrongly!

I could see the two English clubs who would have to miss out kicking up a right fuss though, which to be fair would be more than understandable.

I'm not sure how I feel about it tbh.

If it didn't go as well as we all hope then it would become very interesting.

I'd personally see it as a new start and be extremely excited about showoing what we could do against those teams we'd line up against. I think it would take us a few years to build up a decent squad but I'd rather see us being tested week in, week out than being subjected to the same old dross we get year on year in the SPL.

You say we're used to winning Martin and you're right but I made a point a couple of weeks ago that I think we're somehow being sucked down to the level of teams who are inderior to us in the SPL. We need to be tested at a high level consistently for us to become a better footballing side. The financial side of things would amost take care of itself but we'd have to work hard at the footballing side to advance to a higher level and be taken more seriously. It would take a few years but we're certainly capable of it and far more so than the great majority of the also rans the EPL currently has filling the places.

You're correct in that it would be an assault on the psyche but what a * assault :icon_mrgreen: I think most fans would be extremely patient if they could see we were on the path to improving and challenging. It's just my opinion but I honestly believe it would be the case.

Some members complain about us not being able to compete with the best in Europe anymore, yet some also oppose the idea of going to England where we could generate the kind of revenue needed to compete?

We wouldnt lose our identity. After all these years i thought that much was obvious.

Imagine a club with a 60,000 stadium, a world class training facility, a worldwide reputation and a massive fanbase. Now imagine that club getting the kind of revenue the teams in England are getting.

Its a nice combination and the fact we would be playing in England makes us immediately more attractive to players and managers everywhere.

The sheer euphoria and excitement of a new challenge would make for an electric atmosphere and i genuinely believe a lot of the teams would crumble and Celtic Park.

The squad we have is good enough to survive - at least. Give us the £30-40m TV money they get and we could add a bit of extra quality to the side, and could be very dangerous.

I would love the opportunity to shut some people up.

    This gets my vote.

Im 100% up for it, the very thought of it excites me.

The SPL is a dead end and is never ever gonna become any more lucrative, attractive or challenging in the next 100 years, no matter how much Lex Gold and his cronies try to dress it up with Setanta Tv deals and league reconstruction.

No one else will ever consistently challenge us and the huns for the title again, unless they come up with some revolutionary training centre that produces wonderful players or are taken over by a 'sugar-daddy', but then what sane investor would ever invest in an SPL club?

I don't see how we could lose our identity just because we move to an english league. A club like ours could never lose its identity.

Just think of the fun in turning over countless english teams, who've looked down their noses at us for years, on there own turf, as well as having the OF games to look forward to every year.

After all the talk and dreaming down the years, this really could start to happen, as we have people on our side down south. People like Gartside don't wave proposals like this around without sounding out other people off the record first, this is a genuine plan with what looks like a decent backing.

Yeah we might start in EPL2 and it might take a few years to get to the top, but * it what future do we have to look forward to otherwise? Another 100 years of SPL, hoping to maybe get to the last 16 of the CL, whilst the english clubs continue to coast into the latter stages every year?

As for the rest of the SPL.. * THEM quite frankly. They are all quick to point out how much they cant stand us and throw around their 'bigot brothers' jibes yet line their * pockets when we come to town.

This is a chance of a lifetime and it it gets off the ground, we should grab it with both hands.
