I agree with this. It wouldn't have been too difficult to keep the big man happy, but Postecoglou just ain't that kind of manager. Think he'd have been lethal for years for us if he was looked after properly.

He was unhappy that the manager wasnt him enough game time do he moved on.

The issue I have is that manager was away 4 months later. It's more of a frustration that he may have been happier under Rodgers and would still be a vital part of our squad

Giakoumakis would be getting about as much game time right now as Oh has been getting with Rodgers.

Man could barely drop Vardy despite having the likes of Iheanacho and Daka at the club.

Why should Kyogo have been rotated? Just to keep an inferior player happy? It’s nonsense.

Then you end up with two strikers who are both unhappy because neither of them is trusted to be the main man. And your best striker (arguably best player) being less impactful because he’s getting less game time.

This isn’t a case of two strikers who are as good as each other, fighting it out. Kyogo is a better player and deservedly kept his place in the team.

People need to just move on. He wanted to leave. We kept a better striker. Just because the club didn’t replace him sufficiently doesn’t make the decision to sell him wrong.

Kyogo had a poor spell of form for several weeks last season and more generally there are frequently games where he struggles to get a sniff of the ball. There's 100% games where we ideally need a different kind of striker on pitch and GG offered us that option. Kyogo is a generally better player but situationally there were scenarios where GG was better.

I think during Ange's time here there was a tendency to sort of ignore the problems with squad rotation and some of the decisions made regarding player sales. This wasn't the only area of the pitch where we didn't rotate sufficiently and he wasn't the only player that was sold for far less than his market value. There was an unfortunate pattern and we can move on from it assuming that it doesn't continue. If it does, then obviously we ought to recognise it and call it out.

Are you one of the people who thinks we need another striker in the next window? Just curious as to what level of backup we need, and how much game time they should be getting?

There is some games where kyogo is quiet so a different type of striker would be handy but i’m not sure how you keep a talented player happy on the bench unless you let them start 1 game per week (bear in mind we generally have two games per week)

    Yes we need another striker.

Ideally someone who is happy to play second fiddle because they are:

    a) A young striker still developing and happy to learn from Kyogo.
    b) Experienced and winding down, and know they won't be first choice. Think Defoe at the huns.

Oh fits the bill, but I just think he maybe isn't all that great. He should be getting sent out on loan for 6 months to get a consistent run of games.

The other option is signing another winger and allowing Maeda to play more minutes as a striker.

Problem is we won't know if Oh is good enough till he gets a proper shot at it, same with any other young guy we bring in.

Then there's the 'winding down' option, that wouldn't work either as we'd be no doubt paying a hefty wage for someone who won't be getting decent playing time.

The very obvious answer to the problem is giving the wee man a time out every now and again, which will help him in the long run as well as give someone else a chance to show what they can do.

Rodgers sees them every day in training. I'm sure if he thinks Oh is good enough then he'd be getting more minutes than he's getting now.

In terms of giving Kyogo a rest. I agree that it wouldn't do him any harm, but top strikers/goalscorers at any level are the ones who usually get the full 90 or 80+ minutes. The likes of Haaland, Kane, Lewandowski, Salah etc. They tend to start and finish most games.

I like Oh, but it's up to him to make an impact when he does get 20 mins or so. He's often been the nearly man. He needs to start taking those chances he gets.

I can't see where you would get the notion that Oh would be getting more minutes if he was up to it from. Seems to me that Rodgers will be starting Kyogo regardless who is waiting in the wings.

Not that am trying to tell Rodgers how to do his job, but we all moan about not having strength in depth yet we're happy enough to have talent sitting there not getting a game. It makes zero sense.

I totally agree, OH is not up to it and unfortunately I don’t think he ever will be. BR sees him in training and obviously doesn’t think that much of him. I think his level will turn out to be at a team the equivalent of Hibs, Killie etc. nowhere near good enough for us.

The other Korea boy we went for last year looked the more suitable GG replacement but he was bit of a * and * us about.

We then went for OH bcoz for some reason our scouting department had appeared to ignore the rest of the world an focus only on south korea.
He was 2nd choice and it shows

Or sign a right winger that's also very comfortable playing as a striker.

Exactly, someone to challenge Abada for his place.
