Where was the investment going to come from when Setanta collapsed? You do realize that it did affect Celtic?

I'm just back from the game and have to say I was annoyed at people booing as well. I was as disappointed as anyone that we didn't get the 3 points but as the OP says we don't have a * given right to win every game.

As for supposed lack of investment, I would say I was more surprised at how much we spent despite the collapse of the TV deal, no CL income and having to pay compensation for a new management team.

The investment came from season tickets, 2 sold out champions league qualifiers and * knows how many bumble bee shirts.
not expecting us to sign like man city but expected us to strengthen more than we did before transfer deadline day. Not expecting much from the chinese lad

I was under the impresion that it was the officials being boo'd, as the hand ball right in stoppage time wasn't given as a pen. Thats certainly what I was boo'ing at, not the team! (Although, I personally NEVER boo the team, don't feel it is going to have any meaning!)

So the entire intake from season tickets should be spend on players? Are you including their wages or just fees? What pays the wages? Gate receipts every 2 weeks? What pays them when the internationals are on? When the season is over?

If you think the club is hiding money, go read the financial reports of the last 10 years and you'll get the picture. I think our first year of actually breaking even after tax as a PLC (AFAIK) was under Strachan, we never broke even under MON. Havent seen the actual reports pre-MON but I doubt they are pretty reading.

Not really interested in financial statements. Not willing to go along every week, watch us play *, but come away saying: that was * but hey look at our financial statement!
I'm no finance expert but I know that I am paying significantly more than I was 5 yrs ago to watch a significantly weakened team.

You complain about investment but wont even read about what you are complaining about. That my friend is ignorance of the highest order.

You are paying more, arent you earning more? Its called economic growth and inflation, ever hear of that? Does a pound get you what it would have got you in 2000? Nooooooooooooo!

While I agree with your point, If the price rise was due to the economic financial results, the price should have come down this year, as for the past 12months or so, th UK has been operating at a rate of deflation, not inflation. From that point, Im a littel dissapointed. Also, this year the season tickets were adverised at "Price Freeze". Realistically, we are in a lower rate of VAT from last year, so 2.5% of our VAT payment on our season ticket last year has gone directly into the club. So effectivly, this year the price has risen by 2.5%, not frozen. This in particular annoyed me a little in the summer period when renewals were up.

We are at home to Dundee utd. Not Rangers. Are you all trying to argue that Dundee Utd have the same wage structure and strengh and depth that we have.
Get real. The truth of the matter today is the fact that UTD wanted a result more than we did.
It was up to us to take the game to them and we failed to do so. after we got the equeliser we slowed down and thought it would only be a matter of time before we got the break though, unfortunately it didn't happen, and thats about the size of it.

Don't go on about finanace for our performance today when the team we where playing would loved to be in our position.

My point was that I am paying more but getting much less.
I understand the principles of inflation despite my ignorance of the highest order but feel that the quality of our squad has deteriorated at a worrying rate since 2005.

And I've pointed out to you before that the tv deals in other leagues rose significantly around then whilst the SPL remained static. Basically that means that small clubs in other leagues can outbid and offer better wages than Celtic.

    e.g. one of many

Would you take €50k in Spain where the tax is 20-25% or take £30k in the UK where the tax rate is 50%? Sunny Spain or Rainy & Cold Scotland? La Liga or SPL

The only part of this I agree with is that, Yes, Dunde UTD, and most other SPL clubs would love to be in our financial position.

As for Dundee UTD wanting a result more than us, thats nonsense talk. Dundee UTD, IMO, came today and showed us the way we sould be playing again better opposition. Pushing right up the park, giving no single player a split second to think about his next move, breaking up play where possible, upsetting the rythem of the football we tried to play. Most importantly, if you CANT beat a team fair and square, then you don;t get involved in a football match, you try and muscle your way through every min of the game, and hope you get a the breaks you deserve.

The gap between the OF and the rest is closing, FACT. This is because the OF no longer operate in a tranfer markey a million miles away from the rest. We operate in a very similar market, and simply this mean we can afford the better players in that market, while the others are feeding from the scraps. But bottom line is, we dont operate in a market miles away from some of the rest, so we need to deal with that and take it on the chin!

So you're satisfied that the very, very best we can do is Zhi Zheng?

can't understand what that has to do with us not being able to defeat at team of lesser finance that us today.

    sorry,

what i mean is IMO i think they came to stop us winning and where more focused in doing so than we where in trying to win the game. which in turn gave them what they came for.

Don't think I used the word satified in my post at all. My words were, "We need to take it on the chin".....

Don;t mean your satified, what it means is that its reality, and we can only deal in reality. People that think Celtic are gonnae have the pulling power to attract any quality throughout europe, that may be sought after by other clubs (Mainly in england) are simply living in a fantasy world.

People were saying against Arsenal that Fontune didn't look a 4 mill pound player. We were playing a team who operate in a market where a 4million pound player is nothing more than a squad player, so there you have the huge gap that exists. We need to get real and re-align our demands as Celtic Supports. We can live in hope that we will punch above out weight but we should not live in expectation to do so!

I'M guessing here but our season ticket income is probably at least 10 times Dundee Utds, our shirt sales probably at least 100 times and we've already had a 60,000 sell out this season.
In my book that should enable us to shop in a superior market to them and the rest of the SPL

Well to be honest, if you grade the Market's, I think it simply comes down to one thing......

Players who are wanted in england, or spains top flight
    The rest

As above, we and other team in the SPL, Coca Cola Championship, and lower leagues elsewhere operate in THE REST!

again, just my opinion, but the thing is, its plain to see that englands finances are smothering the life out of scottish football. We havn't and prob will not for a long long time sign a player from the english premiership. This isn't just about not affording his wages, its about the pulling power of the leage we play in and the calibre of player we are likely to attract to scotland!
