UEFA Cup is not that bad.

 

ALLEZ BENFICA ALLEZ

 

Poor display tonight but we remain second.

We can beat Man Utd at home. We can beat Copenhagan away. We are still in a decent position to get through.

If we do beat Utd and Benfica and Copenhagan draw, we're through.

A win against United will do so much to get us there - it might not be enough (depending on the other score) but only disaster would see us not make it.

Keep the faith - I'm confident we can do it!

 

at the end of the day, it's a normal celtic champs league away game....

 

cant believe copenhagen beat man u, now manu will be trying there hearts out at cp.

 

we should not be contemplating the UEFA CUP,1 or 2 nil i would have excepted as we'd still have the upper hand if it came to a head to head but now we have to go to denmark and make sure we come away with at least a point and i see utd getting at least a draw at lisbon and the draw between copenhagen and benfica.so a point against utd would do if it all goes to plan,otherwise we need a win in one of the 2 games

 

manu play benfica at home, should be a win for man u

 

we played bad thats all there is to it we definetly have to get a point at least against man u or it will be tuff getting threw

 

Can't legislate for Caldwell's errors but tactics were all wrong tonight trying to compress that midfield & allowing full backs run wild down the wings...That is surely the final nail in the coffin for Pearson,he is an impact sub at best.....
On the plus side JVOH will be back for Man U and there is no way we can play that bad again...lot of people were posted missing tonight who will be dying to put things right Nov 21st....we were quite decent in 1st half after opening 20 mins...bad result no fatal tho we are still favourites for 2nd place minimum

 

I expected a loss what with the record of away games but not that result....bottom line, Strachans tactics were wrong and putting Pearson on from the start was not a great idea.After watching the home game v Benfica Sno had a great game and i thought he played well again, so to sub him was beyond me..alright, to throw on Zurawsk but too late to change the game.The result was embarrasing but its not over.

 

Just a honestly comment to the game, Benfica could won for 5 - 0.
Ah, and Celtic supporters are fantastic.

 

Oh....and forgot to say...Caldwell was mince

 

argh, I work with a few portuguese mates and some are benfica supporters. i been teasing them when we won 3-0, but it's payback now I guess

 

I reckon the best we are likely to do is a draw with man u and narrow win in Copenhagan. Reckon Benfica may win their last two so goal difference could matter. But a lot depends on the combination of results in the next game. Basically, if we lose against man u and benfica win (whiuch is probably what the bookies would go for) then benfica go into the last game a point ahead and playing a man u side that has nothing to play for, while we play copenhagen who still could pip us to uefa spot. So, IMO, we are almost certainly out of CL if we do not get a point against man u.

Ignoring Caldwell's mistakes, Strachan got the tactics wrong and his team selection was wrong aswell.

1) Pearson shouldn't have started, doesnt have close control
2) Pearson didnt track back with Nelson for the first 25 minutes
3) Long balls to Miller whilst being marked by Luisao, * stupid.
4) Zurawski and McGeady should have started

 

5) strachan took off the only guy tht was pullin the strings for celtic in the midfield,evander sno and a would have swapped mcgeady and pearon about. pearson has a touch like a donkey and therefoe should be kept as far away from a tight midfield as possible wher as mcgeady can create space from nothing in a tight midfield. in my opinon this was a rather obvious mistake on strachans behalf
